Application

The VX4ER-0 is mounted above an extended fan coil drip tray.

Description

The Vortex 4 range of terminal valve assemblies is designed to include all of the required valves for controlling and maintaining a Fan Coil Unit or other hydronic terminal unit. All of these functions are offered in a compact package that is designed for quick and efficient installation by the terminal unit manufacturer over an extended condensate drip tray.


Function:

  • The Vortex 4 valve sets include an Belimo ePIV control valve to maintain design flow rates and provide modulating temperature control as well as a venturi flow measurement device for flow verification purposes.
  • The valve set also includes a flushing bypass which can isolate both the flow and return legs and perform terminal unit flushing and system bypassing operations.
  • The blow down valve within the valve set and connected terminal unit may be flushed out of circuit and subsequently forward flushed to flush the coil.


Configuration:

The VX4 valve assembly is offered in three main configurations to suit most terminal/fan coil unit designs and is offered with a wide range of end connections.

  • Left and Right-Handed: For terminal/fan coil units where the coil is mounted perpendicularly to the floor plate, then typically left and right-handed units will be required.
  • Horizontal: The VX4ER-0 family of valve sets can also be configured horizontally for terminal/fan coil units where the coil is mounted either in parallel orientation to the floor plate or at 45° to the floor plate.
  • Additional four Port valves: The VX4ER-0 family of valve sets can also be fitted with additional four port valves should the need arise, please contact Pettinaroli UK for more information.


Strainers:

The 0X4ER-0 series does not include its own integral strainer within the assembly (our 0X4ER-S series does). The manufacturer recommends it may be prudent to consider the installation of a large bore strainer such as a Pettinaroli Filterball be fitted at the beginning of each section branch pipework and at transitions between clean pipework systems (such as copper, press-fit steel and plastic) and black iron pipework.

 

Please note strainers are intended to help protect the assemblies and terminal/ fan coil units from impurities in the systems media, but this is in no way a substitute for proper media maintenance or cleaning.

Various fitting kits are available to adapt the euroconus ends of the Vortex 4 assembly to different pipe systems. A fitting kit consists of a pair of fittings (flow and return), generally found on both the coil and mains side of the units. Consult manufacturer for details.
