Application

A2 Strata Insulated Spandrel Panels are used in curtain walling and facade systems as non-combustible, insulated infill panels. They provide thermal efficiency, fire safety (A2-s1,d0), and weather protection for both new-build and refurbishment projects.

The panels work seamlessly with most glazing and framing systems. Suitable for commercial, residential, and public buildings where safety and performance are key.

Description

Strata A2 Aluminium Insulated Spandrel Panels

(Classified in accordance with BS EN 13501-1:2018 – Reaction to Fire, achieving A2-s1,d0)

The Strata A2 Spandrel Panels are factory-bonded insulated panels designed for use in curtain walling and façade applications. Each panel consists of aluminium skins (1.5–3.0 mm) with a Rockwool Fabrock® CWP 410 mineral wool insulation core (Euroclass A1 non-combustible).

For additional strength and perimeter durability, panels can be supplied with hard edges in either:

  • Fabrock® CWP 411 mineral wool hard edge, or
  • Promatect® 250 calcium silicate board hard edge.

Panels are classified for use in overall thicknesses from 20 mm to 100 mm.

The aluminium face and reverse skins are finished with either polyester powder coating (PPC - available in a full range of colours to suit project requirements), anodising and/or mill finish. A rear tray option is also available with the Strata system for enhanced installation flexibility.

🔹 Features and Benefits

  • Fire safe: Achieves A2-s1,d0 classification (non-combustible with very limited smoke and no flaming droplets).
  • Durable finish: Polyester powder-coated aluminium skins with wide colour choice.
  • Design flexibility: Panels can be fabricated in a range of shapes, sizes, and colours.
  • Performance: Provides effective weather protection and helps reduce solar transmission in glazed façades.
  • Compatibility: Suitable for use in curtain walling, spandrel, and façade infill applications.

Recyclability

The A2 Strata insulated spandrel panel contains materials that are individually recyclable but are permanently bonded together, meaning the composite panel cannot be fully recycled as a single unit.

The aluminium skins are fully recyclable, with approximately 95 % of aluminium used in buildings recovered and recycled at end of life, according to European Aluminium (Environmental Profile Report, 2018).

The Rockwool Fabrock mineral wool core is recyclable where suitable collection and processing facilities exist.

The polyurethane adhesive is non-recyclable.
