When battens are cut on site, those cut ends are exposed to the elements and need to be treated to comply with British Standard BS 5534. Batten Shield has been developed specifically for this purpose.

Batten Shield is a water-based cream that makes battens water-repellent, protecting cut ends from moisture and rot. Wood pores remain open allowing the wood to breathe and guarantee optimal moisture-regulation. The cream structure makes Batten Shield easy to apply and can be used with all types of graded batten.
