PowerDeck® U

Powerdeck® U is a high performance rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam board for use in warm flat roofs under bituminous torch-on waterproofing systems. It is faced with a bitumen glass fleece on both sides.

  • Manufactured using a blowing agent with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and low global warming potential (GWP).
  • Thermal conductivity as low as 0.024 W/m·K (depending on thickness).

  • No requirement for roof ventilation and condensation within the roof is avoided as the structure is maintained at the internal temperature.

Standard product features

Board size:

1200 x 600 mm.

Thermal conductivity:

  • 120 mm thick and above: 0.024 W/m·K.
  • 80–119mm: 0.025 W/m·K.
  • Below 80 mm thick: 0.026 W/m·K.

Fire performance:

When tested to ENV 1187 Test 4, it achieves a Broof (t4) rating on a plywood deck and with an IKO SBS Gold Seal cap sheet. For other specifications, contact the manufacturer of the waterproofing.

Compressive strength:

Exceeds 150 kPa at yield, and suitable for loads associated with maintenance traffic. For heavier traffic, extra precautions should be taken (consult the waterproofing manufacturer for appropriate details). Care must be taken to avoid damage to boards by impact or concentrated loads during installation.

Roof drainage:

To ensure adequate drainage the roof should have a minimum finished fall of 1:80. This may mean designing for twice the minimum finished fall to account for building inaccuracies, roof deflection and building settlement. Powerdeck® U boards are also available for tapered insulation schemes.

Thermal bridging:

With increasing levels of insulation it is important to ensure the continuity of insulation at the junction of elements.

Wind uplift:

The wind uplift force exerted on the roof will vary according to geographical location, site location and building height. Reference should be made to BS 6229 for adequate bonding of the vapour control layer to the deck. Calculations relating to the bonding of the insulation and any supplementary fixings should be made with reference to BS 6399.
