Description

Foundations can be affected by ground movement caused by volumetric changes in the swelling expandable soils, which is generally caused by the variations and fluctuations in moisture levels of the soil. Changes in weather and the removal of vegetation also often affect ground moisture levels of the soil.

Pecavoid is a BBA approved cellular void former, designed to combat the effects of ground heave on suspended piled foundations and suspended slabs. Widely used in the construction of industrial, commercial and residential buildings, Pecavoid is independently tested, meets NHBC and other major warranty schemes for residential housing developments with their technical requirements and is certified by the British Board of Agrément.

Pecavoid significantly reduces uplift pressure caused by the expanding clay on suspended structural elements (suspended rafts, pile caps, ground beams and slabs). It is designed to compress when ground heave takes place and is manufactured from interlocking sections of light weight expanded polystyrene and is easy to install.
