Application

For use in non-hazardous and hazardous locations. The alarm module must be located in a non-hazardous area, but can monitor intrinsically safe sensors located in hazardous areas.

  • Computer rooms, raised access floors, fibre optic switch sites.
  • Intelligent buildings and commercial buildings.
  • Libraries and archive storage facilities.
  • Museums, heritage sites and aquariums.

- Risk areas:

  • Heating/ cooling water supply and return piping.
  • Condensate drains.
  • Fire sprinkler systems.
  • Toilets, drains and related plumbing.
  • Basements.
  • Backflow preventers.
  • Roof and window leaks.
  • Coffee and vending machines.
  • Overhead pipe runs and trays.
  • The systems are approved and certified for use in non-hazardous and hazardous locations by one or more of the following: FM Approvals, UL, TÜV, VDE, Baseefa and LCIE.

Description

The TraceTek water leak detection system with sensor cables, probes and monitoring systems, lets a user detect and pinpoint the source of a leak, allowing corrective action to be taken before the leak can cause damage to property or data and limit business/ service disruption. The TracekTek leak detection system is a versatile modular system with many interchangeable components which can be configured as needed for each application. Available with a broad range of TraceTek alarm modules and modular components.

System includes:

  • Sensing cables and probes: These cables and probes directly detect and accurately pinpoint the source of the leak, such as cables used for below raised floors, drip trays overhead piping, flat probes for sumps or damp areas, and miniature probes for tight areas.
  • Leader/ jumper cables: Cables which connect the module to the sensing cable/ components.
  • End termination on every leg of the sensing cable in the circuit.
  • Accessories such as hold-down clips, which are used to secure the sensing cable in place.
  • Sensor interface modules (SIM): These modules provide the excitation voltage necessary to operate the cable or probes. The SIM then monitors analog current and voltage levels to determine when and where a leak has occurred. The measurements are digitized and transmitted back to the control and alarm panel for user display or interface to higher level systems. These modules can be either a non-locating alarm module for small area coverage, or an alarm and locating module that can monitor one or more large areas.

- Sensor cables and probes for water leak detection:

Conductive polymers are used to extend the life of the TraceTek cables. The TT1000 cable core is built with tough engineering plastics which can resist the load and stress of being on the bottom of a stack of underfloor cables.

TT1100-OHP is designed for overhead pipes, drip trays and dirty areas. The unique polyester rope over braid provides a wicking action which ensures the first drops of water to hit the sensor cable are absorbed and wicked along the cable until an alarm signal is generated. The rope layer also provides additional mechanical protection in applications where sharp metal edges could be a problem and protects the sensor electrodes in dirty or dusty conditions.

- Monitors and alarm panel:

As all SIMs communicate via Modbus and Johnson Controls’ N2 open protocol and allow for easy conversion to BACnet, TraceTek leak detection can be a plug-and-play addition to many building management systems and have multiple methods for remote alarm notification.

General information

Specification data - Water leak detection and alarm systems

Modular sensing cables and probes

TRACETEK TT1000 (metallic).

Guidance for specification option:

Water sensing cable, complete with pre-terminated factory fitted metallic modular locking connectors, capable of providing continuous verification of sensing circuit integrity, sensing the presence of water at any point along its length and quick drying, allowing system reset within 15 seconds of water removal. Primary water detection sensor cable used in commercial building applications. It is primarily intended for leak detection under raised floors, in mechanical rooms and similar flat surface areas where water can form a puddle.

TRACETEK TT1000 (non-metallic).
