Koster TPO Aqua - Water tank lining system

The Koster TPO Aqua membrane offers excellent application characteristics including flexibility and weld-ability and does not contain any harmful migratory plasticisers or PVC.

Lining of water tanks using the Koster TPO Aqua membrane is the safe, clean, and reliable way of ensuring water is permanently contained within the structure. The Koster TPO Aqua doesn’t require intensive preparation prior to installation, thus reducing additional labour and material costs compared to a liquid application. The membrane carries European drinking water certification for situations when potable water is intended to be stored.

Following a straightforward preparation:

"All substrates should be designed to resist the positive pressures of the water being contained inside however, application onto reinforced concrete, precast concrete, block, brick, metal and even timber is possible. All application surfaces should be smooth and free of harsh edges, depressions, or any other abnormalities that could puncture the membrane once installed. Cracks (non-structural), old paints/coatings and membranes are admissible."

A 500 g/sqm geotextile matting is loosely placed onto the tank floor, this ensures any undulations in the slab won't stress the installed membrane, followed by overlaying with the desired Koster TPO Aqua. Mechanical fasteners are installed around the room perimeter securing the membrane in place.

Further rolls of Koster TPO Aqua are then applied to the walls, either horizontally or vertically and held in place with suitable membrane washers and screws. Overlaps between sheets to be 110 mm. At the uppermost point on the tank walls, a strip of Koster TPO Laminate metal is to be mechanically fixed thus allowing a suitable welded termination for the membrane.

All overlaps, terminations and detailing should be fully hot air welded as per the guidelines in the Koster TPO Installation guide. Approved contractor installation only. Please contact the Koster technical team for recommended contractors.
