Koster Injection System for Water Bearing Cracks

Koster manufacture a range of resins for treating issues with water penetrating through structures below ground. Depending on the type of substrate, soil type and type of water ingress, a robust injection system can be proposed.

Please note, every injection system should be unique to the particular project. A designed approach should be taken to ensure remedial success. The Koster technical team can offer design and site support.

In the case of water actively leaking or weeping from a crack/honeycombing or construction joint, Koster 2 IN 1 can be used. This is a twin injection material, Upon first injection the resin will foam on contact with water and temporarily stop the ingress. Once the material is then re-injected into the dry crack, the Koster 2 IN 1 will encompass the foam in an elastic solid body resin thus sealing permanently allowing for continued minute crack movement. This two-stage injection process with only one resin is unique to Koster and has a long track record of successful UK projects.

In cases of very rapid water ingress Koster IN8 is used. This is a fast foaming PU injection resin which will create a permanent elastic seal. It works best in cases where large voids are anticipated in the ground behind the structure.

Both the Koster 2 IN 1 and Koster IN 8 injection resins are installed using the Koster 1C Injection Pump via injection valves called 'Koster Superpackers' into the crack. Depending on the application, different packers are available.

It is important to note that only trained and approved persons should carry out these types of injection works. Koster have a large database of approved contractors who they can offer.
