Description

Intumescent Fire Protection coating systems for C1, C2, C3 and C4 corrosivity environments requiring fire protection ranging between 60, 90 or 120 minutes using water based or solvent based intumescent systems for on-site or off-site application. Select the variant on the drop down for the full system including Primer / Intumescent / Topcoat.    


Primer:

  • Hempadur Speed-Dry ZP 600 primer as standard.
  • Other primers available, contact Hempel for details.


Intumescent coating can be:

  • Water-based (for internal use only); Hempacore AQ for 60 minutes' protection, Hempafire Optima 500 for 90 or 120 minutes. Suitable for On-Site Application Only.
  • Solvent-based (for internal/ external use); Hempafire Pro 315 FD for 60 minute Fire Protection. Suitable for Off-Site & On-Site Application.
  • Solvent-based (for internal/ external use); Hempafire Pro 400 FD for 90 or 120 minutes Fire Protection. Suitable for Off-Site & On-Site Application.


Topcoat:

  • Finished with either Hempathane HS 55610 (gloss) or Hempathane Fast Dry 55750 (semi-gloss).
  • Other Topcoats available, contact Hempel for details.

Preparation

Guidance for specification option:

Blast clean to the cleanliness preperation grade Sa2½ according to ISO 8501-1: 2007 or as per the Product Data Sheet of the primer to be applied. Both metallic and non-metallic abrasives can be used. Grit is recommended. Remove any remaining dust before applying the paint. Surface preparation for most common substrates Carbon Steel, including cast iron and Corten steel Remove oil and grease by fresh water washing with a suitable detergent followed by fresh water rinsing to remove remaining salts and other contamination. Solvent cleaning may also be applied for small areas. All surfaces to be prepared in accordance with the coating manufacturer's written instructions. Consult manufacturer's literature for details.

Hempadur Speed-Dry ZP 600.

Guidance for specification option:

A one-component, solvent-borne, intumescent coating, optimized for 60 minutes for protection of structural steel against cellulosic fires. 

  • One coat.
  • Product type: EP.
  • Contact Hempel for intumescent material take-off.

Hempathane HS 55610 (Gloss).

Guidance for specification option:

  • A gloss finish polyurethane topcoat cured with aliphatic isocyanate.
  • It has a high volume solids and contains zinc phosphate making it suitable for protection of structures in corrosive environments. It can be applied direct to metal. 
  • VOC compliant two-component topcoat, with good gloss and colour retention.

Hempathane Fast Dry 55750 (Semi-gloss).

Guidance for specification option:

  • A two-component semi-gloss finish polyurethane paint, cured with aliphatic isocyanates.
  • Good gloss retention and colour stability.
  • Contains zinc phosphate.
