Circonomy Cycle Shelter - 10 cycle
ISO 9001 Quality Management
Certificate type
Simple, cost-effective shelter for BREEAM compliant cycle storage.
The IAE Circonomy Cycle Shelter provides a low impact, cost-effective solution to bicycle storage in line with BREEAM Transport 03 Cyclist Facilities guidelines.
When used with an IAE cycle rack, the Circonomy Shelter provides secure, covered cycle storage, encouraging cycle use by staff and visitors.
The shelter is typically used to provide basic cycle storage at industrial and commercial facilities, but is also suitable for large entertainment venues, schools, and hospitals; to give a few examples.
In addition to the standard 4m shelter, extensions can be supplied to increase bike storage capacity as needed. (See variants and images for examples.)
Note:
BREEAM certification is given to buildings, not products. For the shelter to contribute to the building certification it must be of sufficient size for the facility, and be positioned in a convenient location which encourages cycle use.
Key Points:
Details:
The IAE Circonomy Shelter is made up of a steel box section frame with clear plastic cladding, and is designed to be bolted down to a solid surface.
The shelter is supplied in flat-pack form, for assembly on site.
The frame parts are manufactured from 50x50 SHS steel, hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 specification (with the option for polymer powder coating in a range of RAL colours) to prevent corrosion. Frame parts are assembled and secured with standard galvanised fasteners.
The plastic cladding is 4mm thick UV stabilised PETg secured to the steel frame will screws and a central clamping strip.
The shelter is secured to the hardstanding through holes in the shelter leg base plates.
The legs are adjustable to provide maximum flexibility when it comes to installation. The adjustable legs allow the four corners of the shelter to be raised or lowered as needed so the shelter can be set level on an uneven base. Once the shelter is level, the legs are fixed in place with a horizontal pin.
The shelter can be extended to provide increased bike storage capacity using additional components available from IAE.
The shelter is completed by installing an IAE cycle rack, allowing users to securely fasten their bikes under the cover of the shelter.
The racks are designed to allow bikes to be secured by the bike frame (rather than the wheels). This type of securing is required according to BREEAM guidelines.
The IAE cycle rack is comprised of up to 5no 48.3dia CHS rolled steel cycle hoops fastened together on 2no lower rails. The rails are then bolted to the hardstanding.
The cycle hoops are set at 800mm centres. This gives ample space around the hoops to insert and remove bicycles without any awkward manoeuvring, which is also a BREEAM requirement.
