Application

Suitable for use in new build, conversion and refurbishment developments. Can be used in domestic dwellings as well as commercial and public buildings.

Description

The HD1055 Masonry Wall with Stud Lining System from Hush Acoustic provides a superior solution for upgrading the acoustic performance of a masonry wall.

It utilises SoundBloc acoustic plasterboard in combination with Hush Slab acoustic sound absorbers to provide a a solution that reduces sound transmission from one room to another.

This acoustic wall lining is perfect for use in residential or commercial buildings where soundproofing needs to be improved. It is also an excellent solution for areas where there are limited construction labour resources available because of how quick and easy it is to install on site.

Features and benefits:

  • Can be used in new build, conversion and refurbishment developments.
  • Building Regulations Approved Document E (England & Wales), Technical Handbook Section 5 (Scotland) and Technical Handbook G (Northern Ireland) compliant.
  • A tried and tested method of upgrading an existing masonry wall to separating wall standards.
  • Excellent acoustic performance due to the clear void between the existing masonry wall and the new timber stud wall.

Performance is assured as it is a fully tested system that combines several high quality soundproofing products, providing a solution for new build, conversion (material change of use) and refurbishment projects.

HD1055 works by creating a clear void between the existing masonry wall and the new timber stud wall. It is fully compliant with all the Building Regulations covering the UK - Approved Document E (England & Wales), Section 5 (Scotland) and Part G (Northern Ireland).

How the system is formed:

  • A single frame of 50x100mm timber stud work is constructed independently from the existing masonry wall. A clear 25mm minimum gap is needed between the existing masonry and stud frame.
  • The stud and track are isolated from the floor and ceiling structure using the Hush Heavy Duty Isolation Tape.
  • The stud wall is insulated using Hush Slab 100 Sound Absorber. This is installed tightly within the stud frame, ensuring that the gap between the timber frame to the masonry wall remains clear at all time.
  • The masonry side and the new timber frame are then faced with two layers of 15mm SoundBloc plasterboards.
  • The perimeters of the plasterboards are sealed using Hush Acoustic Sealant.

Acoustic Performance typical results*

Airborne (DnTw) - 64 dB

Airborne (DnTW+Ctr) - 60 dB

* Results based on all Hush materials listed in the Hush System HD1055 data sheet being used. Results are also based on correct installation and all flanking paths being treated.
