Application

Harlequin Activity permanent sprung floors are fitted by Harlequin's own Contracts Division as part of a total package to ensure the floor is correctly installed and is fully compliant with current regulations and standards.

Description

A permanently installed sprung dance floor system based on a triple layer construction. It is a fully-floating system with no fixings to the sub-floor and can be laid on almost any reasonably smooth and flat surface without preparation. With engineered wood top guarantee for ten years.

The system can be adapted to withstand heavy loading including retractable seating. Harlequin Activity has been tested for impact sound reduction with a variety of different Harlequin surfaces, according to BS EN ISO 140-8. Results ranged from 22–24 dB.

Harlequin Activity can be installed with a choice of hardwood surfaces:

  • For multi-purpose use, including traffic by the general public, full stage entertainment, ballroom dance or even for designers obliged to match existing decor.
  • Guarantee for reasonable wear and tear covers five years.

Features and benefits:

  • A polymer damp-proof membrane is laid across the subfloor onto which is placed a layer of cellular polyurethane of proprietary density. Two layers of moisture-resistant semi-flexible panels are then installed and staggered, so that the joins do not coincide.
  • The top layer of panels is bonded to the one below with a non-setting adhesive and fastened mechanically.
  • The damp-proof membrane is folded onto the surface and secured to form a damp-proof seal. Then the hardwood surface is installed and adhered. Finally, the gap between the flooring and the wall is filled with a matching wooden scotia fitted to the edge of the floor structure to form an attractive edge to the wall.
  • Area elasticity providing 'give' or flexion over the section where a performer lands.
  • Point elasticity offering compression at the point of contact.

Tested in accordance with EN 14904-2006:

  • Shock absorption: 64%.
  • Vertical deformation: 3.8 mm.
  • Area deflection: 7.2%.
  • Rolling load: >1500 N.
  • Theatre Stage Concentrated Load: 3.6kN/m2 (367kg/m2)
  • Theatre Stage Blanket Load: 5.0kN/m2 (509 kg/m2)

Components:

  • Top surface: 15 mm engineered wood surface in Oak, Beech, Maple.
  • Top panel: moisture resistant semi flexible board.
  • Cellular layer: cellular polyurethane.
  • Damp proof membrane: PE membrane.
  • Overall thickness: 97 mm including engineered wood surface.
