Fire and smoke stop blocks for apertures in buildings, especially the flutes of trapezoidal formwork.
AIM Fire Stop Blocks are made from high density Rockwool stone wool. Incorporated into the building during construction, they are used to seal apertures and are permanently held in place by compression. They can also be used within metal cladding as a firebreak and to protect the top flange of steel beams.
AIM Fire Stop Blocks are predominantly supplied as trapezoidal sections. Square cut, rectangular or round sections are also available.
Features and benefits:
Fire performance to EN 1366-4:
120 minutes (maximum), assessed by Warrington Fire Research Centre.
Sound reduction:
Reduces flanking transmission by 9 dB.
Environmental:
Ozone depletion potential of zero, no CFCs or HCFCs used in manufacture.

Durability | AIM fire barriers are chemically inert, will not sustain vermin and do not encourage the growth of rot, fungi, moulds or bacteria. Guidance for specification option: They do not degrade under the usual conditions found in buildings and will perform effectively for the life of the building. |
Compatibility | Compatible with all normal building materials. |
Environmental | Global warming potential = zero. Guidance for specification option: AIM fire barrier products are manufactured from stone wool insulation which is universally recognised as being a sustainable and environmentally friendly material. |
Fire rating | To BS EN 1366-4, EI 120/60 minutes (standard 100 mm) to EI 120/120 (standard 125 mm or ablative 60 mm). Guidance for specification option: Integrity/ insulation. Tested conducted in a composite metal deck with masonry below, metal deck profiles C19, CF80 and CF225. Note that ablative 60 mm performance applies to C19 and CF80 only, and is subject to being sealed in situ using AIM Acrylic Intumescent Mastic (specified separately). |
