Application

Can be used either singular or in conjunction with other materials to suit a variety of different applications, including:

  • Architectural and public sectors.
  • Retail, commercial and domestic use.
  • Interior and exterior cladding.
  • Rainscreen systems.
  • Balustrades and partitions (two panels back-to-back would be required).
  • As a component part of spandrels, monolithic panels, double glazed units (DGUs) and insulated glass units (IGUs).
  • Curtain walling.
  • Security.
  • Signage and information boards (when printed).

Can be fixed as traditional glazing and cladding systems. The product can be bonded with silicone, polyurethane and polysulphide based materials – Consult manufacturer & insert requirement

Description

Lightweight, shatterproof safety glass laminate available in any colour and/ or digital print. Can be used as a shatterproof safety glass/ mirror.

Can be specified to BS EN 12600 3(B)3 or to BS EN 12600 1(B)1. The product is rated A2-s1, d0 in reaction to fire performance to EN 13501-1: 2007 and A1: 2009.

  • Certified to EN 1542:1999: Integrity of laminates.
  • Half the weight of traditional laminated or toughened glass.
  • Thermally safe.
  • If broken, the panel will remain safe and intact.
  • Easy to cut via a variety of methods and standard glass processing equipment.

  • UV stable.
  • No rollerwave distortion.
  • Can be configured to any orientation.
  • Highly reflective, with an extremely flat, 100% opaque finish.
  • Specified and installed by BAA and Network Rail.
  • Bomb blast tested by UK and Italian Ministry of Defence (MOD) with repeated explosions up to 1800 kg explosives.
  • No pin-holes.
  • Highly durable, UV stable and retains its appearance and performance for years.
  • Easy to maintain.
  • Low environmental impact.
  • Does not contain solvents, heavy metals or toxic elements, and will not produce any volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
  • Not susceptible to catastrophic nickel sulphide breaks.
  • Does not require heat-soaking.
  • Lightweight; half the weight of standard laminated glass.
  • Provides significant savings on fixing systems due to a reduction in weight.
  • The panels can be matched to corporate colours, and branding and signage can be printed within the colour layer.
  • Can be structurally bonded with no show-through of adhesive.
  • Manufactured from renewable and recyclable materials.
  • Compatible with all standard forms of glass framing.
  • Can be supplied to meet any specification up to bomb blast resistant panels.
  • Impervious to attack from the rear by adhesives and solvents. Approved fixing with Dow Corning and Sika.
  • Has a life expectancy of 25 years.

Technical characteristics:

  • Fire rating (to EN 13501-1: 2007 and A1: 2009): A2-s1,d0.
  • Thermal transmittance (U-Value): 4.11 W/m²K.
  • Impact resistance (to BS EN 12600): Class 3B3 (standard). When fixed within 70 mm of, or when bonded to a rigid material, class 1B1 can be achieved.
  • Fire rating: Non-combustible.
  • Laminate integrity (to BS EN 1542: 1999): Pull-off tests exceeded.
  • Light transmittance: 0.

Colour/ Finish:

- Colour layer:

Available in any RAL design or RAL classic colour, consult manufacturer and insert requirement. Standard colours include clear coat, graphite grey (RAL 7024), traffic white (RAL 9016).

Bespoke colours available. Consult manufacturer and insert requirement.

- Print layer:

Provides an accurate reproduction of high-definition digital images and text. Digital images can be reproduced to full panel size or tiled over any number of panels. It is encapsulated between the glass and aluminium and is therefore protected from moisture, solvents, salts and other volatiles.

Plain colour sheets can be held in stock, then cut and edged as required. Consult manufacturer for details.
