Blue/Green Roof Inspection Chamber

Inspection Chambers are to be fitted to all Rainwater Outlet (RWO) locations on a blue or green roof system. In accordance with the GRO Code and FLL Guidelines, inspection chambers should be clearly visible and all penetrations through the roof structure of a green roof should be surrounded with a minimum 500mm ballast margin. They may also be used on ballasted roofs where a raised outlet grille or ballast guard is not in use.

Where used on amenity accessible roofs, care should be taken as the inspection chambers are not designed to tolerate foot traffic - suitable surface finishes can be installed above, e.g. Pavers on Pedestals. The Inspection Chamber is non load-bearing.

Inspection chambers should also be fitted at downpipe locations where upper roof areas cascade into blue roof attenuation. These critical locations are prone to silt build-up and require routine maintenance to ensure the downpipes remain free-flowing.

Inspection chambers are free-standing and secured in place by the surrounding roof finishes, insulation, ballast or blue roof attenuation geocells. Specially-formed parapet inspection chambers feature a 45° cut-out to allow them to be fixed tightly against an upstand where the waterproofing system includes angle fillets at the base of the upstand, such as the Radmat EshaFlex Reinforced Bitumen Roof System.
