  • Expandable graphite fire-retardant reduces spread of flame.
  • Heavy duty, robust and extremely tough.
  • Service life in excess of 30 years as stated in BBA certificate 10/4744.
  • Resistant to European climatic conditions.
  • Membrane resists impact and tearing.
  • Can satisfy requirements of Part B of Building Regulations.

Torch-Free/ Safe to Torch Zone Detailing:

Bauder was the first manufacturer to pledge its support to the Safe2Torch initiative, introduced by the National Federation of Roof Contractors (NRFC) in July 2017. The torch-free detailing designs specifically deliver secure and safe installations in the vicinity of combustible construction materials located on, or connected to, the roof such as timber substrates or upstands; abutments to cladding, roof tiles, slates or thatch; or debris such as dry leaf material that is at risk from ignition.

Torch-free detailing can be integrated into all bituminous waterproofing solutions to give versatile, safe installation techniques for all roof types, site conditions and budgets.

The waterproofing flashing should be turned up by at least 150 mm around features such as rooflights, parapets and service pipes passing through the roof, detail work to upstands, edge details, flashings, etc. The membrane should not be taken up in one piece. Consult manufacturer for further information.

Features and benefits of Torch-Free/ Safe to Torch Zone Detailing:

  • Complete range of self-adhesive bitumen membranes.
  • Installation follows industry best practice and conforms to BS 8217: 2005.
  • 4.2 mm-thick elastomeric KSO SN, KSO ALP SN and KSO P-SN cap sheets.
  • Hot air welding of membrane laps in the torch-free zone.
  • Can comply with Building Regulations Approved Document B – Fire Safety.
  • Manufactured to BS EN 13707: 2004 Reinforced Bitumen Membrane Sheets.
  • Reduces risk of fire caused by installation.
  • Practical solution so that installation programme times are achievable.
  • Robust waterproofing without compromising system longevity.

Horizontal work

Activator-Primer (Canister) APR01 - Black.

Guidance for specification option:

Synthetic rubber resin-based primer, developed to provide the necessary preparation of substrates prior to the installation of self-adhesive and torch-applied membranes. The spray application offers improved film thickness speed of application (by up to 50% over roller applied products) and quick drying in a matter of minutes.

  • Coverage: Approximately 96 g/m² (300 mm wide spray one coat, 192 g/m² two coats). Two coats may be required for very porous substrates.
  • Application temperature: +5 to +30°C.

Drying time (at 10°C): 5–10 minutes.

  • Colour: Black.
  • Recoat time if left exposed: Four hours.
  • Suitable substrates: Oriented strand board (OSB); plywood; timber; concrete; lightweight concrete or cementitious materials; metal; Bauder self-adhesive underlayers; existing asphalt and bitumen membranes; polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation.
  • Non-suitable substrates: Mica finished surfaces (e.g. KSD FBS); Laminated paper-foil faced insulation; expanded polystyrene (EPS) or extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulations; BauderROCK or mineral wool insulation; BauderGLAS or cellular glass insulation; copper; thermoplastic waterproofing membranes.

Bauder insulated rainwater outlets.

Guidance for specification option:

For maintaining thermal continuity at drainage points. Suitable for warm, cold and inverted roof construction, the high thermal value of the rigid foam body prevents condensation from forming on the underside of the outlet.

Designed for use when connecting to conventional drainage systems, with excellent flow rate performance and is suitable for both new build and refurbishment projects. Outlets are included in the Bauder waterproofing system guarantee as they are integrated components.

Flow rate figures (where applicable) are based on BS EN 12056:3:2000, typically taken using a 35 mm header of water including leaf grille:

  • Bauder Bitumen Compact Vertical Outlet DN100: Insulated internal outlet, 6.1 L/s.

  • Bauder Parapet Emergency Overflow Stainless Steel DN70: Emergency overflow/ tell-tale.

BauderSOLAR F Photovoltaic Mounting System.

Guidance for specification option:

Bauder Flat roof PV mounting solution for framed solar modules. The mounting units are secured to the roof using a membrane-to-membrane welding technique. This installation method means that the roof is not compromised by penetrations for fixings nor is it ballasted, which would add additional weight loading to the roof. Specifically designed to be installed on Bauder bituminous or single ply waterproofing systems and provide a lightweight, low risk and quick to install mounting solution for framed solar modules.

Bauder rooflights/ glazing/ ventilation.

Guidance for specification option:

All these glazing products are fully compatible with the roof waterproofing systems. Consult manufacturer for details and insert requirements.
