Suitable for use in sealing small bedding joints and concealed joints subject to small amounts of movement.

Description

One part butyl based sealant for general sealing, intended for general sealing of many joints in traditional forms of construction where minimal movement is expected.


Features and benefits:

  • Not recommended for use against bituminous materials, expansion joints, against natural stone or movements joints subject to high degrees of movement.
  • Anticipated service life in excess of 20 years.
  • Health and safety: Avoid prolonged contact with skin.

Chemical resistance

Good resistance to normal acidity and alkalinity associated with building materials.

UV resistance

Not suited to situations exposed to direct sunlight, it may craze if exposed to sunlight.

Anticipated service life

20 years+.

Compression strength

Butt joints (movement in tension and compression): 10–15%

ShearStrength

Lap joints (movement in shear): 20–25%.

Joint width

6 mm (minimum single application); 20 mm (maximum single application).

Guidance for specification option:

Joint depth:

  • Porous substrates: 10 mm (minimum); 10 mm (maximum).
  • Non-porous substrates: 6 mm (minimum); 10 mm (maximum).

Manufacturer guidance

Width: depth ratio (within the above minimum and maximum restrictions).

  • 2:1 butt joints.
  • 1:1 lap or floor joints.
