Application

Suitable for perimeter sealing of fire resisting timber, galvanized or polyester powder coated frames.

Description

A fire-retardant, water-based acrylic sealant.


Features and benefits:

  • Not recommended for external use.
  • Fair resistance to most alkalis and dilute acids; poor resistance to hydrocarbon solvents.
  • When subjected to flame, the sealant will intumesce (expand and char), thus blocking the passage of smoke.
  • Can be painted with emulsion and gloss paints.
  • Correctly applied, the sealant should not require maintenance, and has an anticipated life in excess of 20 years.
  • Tested to BS 476-20.
  • Health and safety: Avoid prolonged skin contact. Use of this product should be recorded in the Project Health and Safety Plan.

Application temperature

+5 to +50°C.

Curing time

Allow 3 hours before application of emulsion paint and 12 hours before application of gloss paint.

6 mm (minimum); 20 mm (maximum).

Guidance for specification option:

Joint depth: 10 mm (minimum); 20 mm (maximum).

Backing

Where required, mineral wool should be used to provide the correct joint depth.
