Application

Suitable for use in industrial, commercial and municipal buildings.

Description

Apollo is an EN 12101-2 and VdS-certified double-flap ventilator designed for efficient smoke and heat exhaust in fire emergencies. Suitable for industrial, commercial, and public buildings, it combines high-quality components, corrosion-resistant aluminium, and EPDM seals for low air permeability. Available in thermally broken, insulated, or single-skin versions with polycarbonate, insulated, or glass flaps.

Features and benefits:

  • Thermally broken, insulated or single skin versions.
  • EN 12101-2 and VdS certified.
  • Polycarbonate flap version classified to EN 1873 ('Rooflights of plastic').
  • Polycarbonate, insulated and glass flap options available.
  • Optional integrated fall through protection.
  • Optional screw corner joints allow easy polycarbonate panel replacement without removing the entire flap.
  • Manufactured in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001 (quality management standard).
  • High volume smoke exhaust capability.
  • Available up to a maximum width x length of 2500 x 3000 mm in mm increments.

Dimensions:

  • Unit width: from 1000–2500 mm (in mm increments).
  • Unit length: from 1000–3000 mm (in mm increments).

Base options:

The following base options are available:

  • Single-skin base.
  • Double-skin base with insulation.
  • 100% thermally broken base.

Flaps:

The Apollo ventilator flaps have either insulated aluminium panels or various kinds of polycarbonate multi-wall sheets or insulated glass panels and are clamped in frames made of extruded aluminium profiles. The sheets are installed in such a way that thermal expansion is allowed for, and so there is no damage from screws.

The flaps are set at slightly inclined angles, allowing rainwater to drain off, thus preventing them from getting dirty.

The flaps have been subjected to a wide range of tests, e.g. for impact resistance, resistance to hail, acoustic characteristics, and many others.

The following flap variants are available:

  • 16 mm thick polycarbonate multi-skin sheet: Available in transparent, opaque, grey and Infrared (IR) grey.
  • 32 mm thick polycarbonate multi-skin sheet: Available in transparent or opaque with mineral wool insulation.
  • Double-skin insulated aluminium flaps.
  • Glass flaps:
    • Equipped with standard insulated glass thickness (28 mm, 30 mm, 32 mm).
    • Equipped with customer-specified insulating glass (thickness from 24 mm up to 40 mm and maximum weight 45 kg/m²).

Controls:

The Apollo flap ventilator is opened or closed either electrically or pneumatically by two drive units in each case.

The following drives are available:

  • 24 V d.c. electric actuators.
  • 230 V a.c. electric actuators – These require much smaller cables compared to 24 V d.c. actuators. This greatly reduces cabling costs.
  • Double action pneumatic cylinders.

The drives are designed to exactly match the particular requirements of the project, which results in lower operating and cabling costs.

Thermal performance (U value):

Up to 1.31 W/m²K depending on product variant selected.

Certification and test results:

In accordance with EN 12101-2:

  • Wind load class: WL 1500.
  • Snow load class: Variable, up to 6500 N/m².
  • Low ambient temperature : T(00) / T(-15).
  • Resistance to heat: B300 – E.
  • Reliability:
    • Smoke ventilation: 1000 cycles.
    • Day-to-day ventilation: +10 000 cycles.

In accordance with EN 1873:

  • Water tightness: Passed.
  • Resistance to upward loads: UL 1500/ UL 3000.
  • Resistance to downward loads: DL 3000.
  • Impact resistance against a small hard body: Passed.
  • Impact resistance against a large soft body: SB 600/ SB 1200.
  • Reaction to fire: Class E.
  • Air permeability: AP12.

Additional performance classes:

  • Air permeability polycarbonate at 50 Pa: 0.35 m³/hm².
  • Fall-through protection for closed unit according to GS-BAU-18:
    • 600 J, 1200 J and Permanent.
  • Fall-through integrated grid 1200J according to EN 1873.
  • Resistance to hail and ball impacts has been tested.
  • Air permeability according to EN12207 Class 3: 2.25 m³/hm² at 100 Pa for Apollo with glass.
  • Waterproof according to EN 12208 class E900 for Apollo with glass.
  • Wind load for windows and doors according to EN 12210 Class C1 for Apollo with glass.

Acoustics:

  • With glass flaps: Up to 35.0 dB.
  • With aluminium flaps: Up to 30.0 dB.
  • With polycarbonate flaps: Up to 26.0 dB.
