Stainless steel masonry angled wind posts, providing strength and stability for panels of masonry cladding.
Suitable for use in buildings subjected to high wind loads and for reduced cavity applications including:
Stainless steel angled wind posts, designed for use in buildings subjected to high wind loads and for reduced cavity applications. Wind posts span vertically between floors to provide lateral support for masonry panels and are normally fixed as ‘simply supported beams’.
They are available in various thicknesses and sizes to suit structural loading requirements and are supplied complete with vertically adjustable ties to suit coursing levels and necessary fixing bolts. Connections to the frame are designed to allow for vertical adjustment of the structure and site tolerances during installation via a loose top cleat.
Deflection can be considerably reduced by using the wind posts as a ‘propped cantilever’ with a heavy-duty base connection. This method is used especially for the parapet/ spandrel wind posts.
The wind post leg is built into the inner leaf of the blockwork and tied, using one-piece, two-way ties at 225 mm centres. This allows vertical movement of the structure without internal cracking. In situations that require a vertical movement joint, plain end, two-way ties with a de-bonding sleeve is recommended.
