Correct guttering system installation – Dave Osborne, Technical Manager

Correct guttering system installation – Dave Osborne, Technical Manager

Swish Building Products

With over 30 years' experience working in the building products' sector, our Technical Manager, Dave Osborne is a reliable authority with a wealth of practical advice geared at achieving the best results. This time, Dave turns his attention to effective guttering system installation, with some expert advice on achieving the best results regarding both new and replacement projects. As heavy downpours now occur with increasing regularity, it's wise to never underestimate the importance of installing a well-fitted guttering system on domestic properties and buildings. Correctly fitted around the roof perimeter and securely fastened to the fascias, good quality guttering can be a first line of property defence during rainy periods, guarding against leaks and standing water issues.By understanding how to choose a system with the appropriate flowrate, and fitting both the guttering and downpipe so the system works cohesively, you'll be rewarded with an installation that will serve to prevent building damage and last for many years to come.

New Dawn Homes has chosen Swish PVC cladding for their exclusive, Robinswood Hill Farm development in Gloucestershire. Swish Anthracite Grey cellular PVC cladding was used to enhance the second-floor dormer cheeks and ground floor window bays to its collection of seven, 4 & 5 bedroom homes. Swish cellular PVC is the most efficient material for use at the roofline because it costs roughly the same as timber to install, requires no painting or maintenance and suits the exposed and inaccessible location at and above the eaves. Most importantly, when installed correctly it will last the lifetime of the dwelling.

More than 1000m2 of low maintenance cladding from Swish Building Products has been installed at the home of the Seasiders, Blackpool Football Club. The cladding has been used to refurbish the club’s canopied walkway and entrance on Bloomfield Road. Main contractor, Lowline Ceilings developed a system to use the cladding as a suspended ceiling. The Blackpool FC maintenance team specified a replacement ceiling which wouldn’t corrode in the salty air of the coastal town and could withstand the blustery seaside weather. The original aluminium ceiling had deteriorated badly as a result of weathering, corrosion, wind-damage and vandalism.
