The academy offers a first-class education facility for 420 students and 52 pre-school places, designed to grow with the population. The first phase includes a two-storey building with teaching spaces, an assembly room, sports hall, and dining hall, providing 210 primary and 26 pre-school places. The second phase links to future residential development. SOLUTION The design uses Innovaré’s SIPS, Insulated Panel System, forming a complete dry structure. This system outperforms traditional methods, accelerates delivery, reduces waste, and improves sustainability. It meets ambitious construction targets by shortening schedules and enhancing building performance. OUTCOME Early collaboration ensured the design met client requirements. Regular meetings established a robust delivery schedule, with M&E services integrated into the panel manufacture to avoid onsite clashes. The advanced offsite timber technology maximized efficiency and quality, delivering Abbey View on time and budget in 42 weeks, snag-free. The structural frame, including roof, walls, and floors, was completed in nine weeks. The i-SIP System’s enhanced performance will reduce maintenance and energy costs over the building’s lifetime.Sarah Valentine, Principal said: “The construction team has been a brilliant source of inspiration for our students. Project:Aspire School Client: Kent County Council Contractor: BAM Construction Architect: Bond Bryan Value: £9m Location: Sittingbourne GIFA: 3,250m²  Need The Aspire School is a special, free school in Sittingbourne for children aged from 4 to 11 years. It was founded with an ambition to transform the opportunities of many young people with special education needs. The primary school was created to help meet the growing need for additional provision for children in Kent with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and severe speech and language difficulties (SSLD). Solution The design was developed using BIM Level 2 – in close collaboration by the architects and Grove Park Academies Trust – following an in-depth review of a number of SEN schools and their facilities. The aim was to achieve the most important objective: to create an environment that both inspires young people, and provides the ideal backdrop to nurture lifelong learning experiences for the children who learn there. Going beyond design excellence and embedding a holistic understanding of how buildings can enhance the day-to-day life of their users, as well as focusing on sustainable and environmentally-responsive design, was at the heart of this project. The Aspire School has been designed specifically around the needs of the children that will be attending, and it will provide an outstanding educational setting. Careful consideration has been given to all aspects of the design process to help promote engagement, wellbeing and achievement. Outcome The goal is that Aspire School will not only be an outstanding provision for the young people that attend the school but, in the future, it will also be a leading school for children with ASC and SSLD. Long-term, the school hopes to develop links and provide expert support to other schools and the wider community.

Offsite methods deliver airtight, thermally efficient buildings quickly, as demonstrated by Broxbourne School, thanks to the close partnership of the architect, developer, and contractors.SOLUTIONMid Group, Innovaré, and Bond Bryan, having collaborated on multiple projects, efficiently deployed offsite methods, including the Innovaré SIP System. Structural SIP walls were used for teaching wings and as an airtight wrap around the steel frame of larger spaces, with brick slip facades by Aquarian Cladding Systems. Asking the question… "What can be achieved when carbon is the prime driver of decision making, ahead of CAPEX?"Selected as the superstructure of choice Innovaré are delighted to have supported Scapes Circular Twin Initiative through it’s i-FAST panelised superstructure solution.As part of an industry-wide collaborative initiative, teams from Morgan Sindall Construction, SCAPE, HLM Architects, Cundall and Lungfish Architects worked together to innovate a new process for designing and delivering construction projects, where reducing whole life carbon is the primary objective. By applying lessons learned from past projects, challenging existing assumptions and utilising vertical collaboration with the whole supply chain, there are some exciting learnings to share.The project was an 18-month journey, which began in an unexpected way in March 2020, on the cusp of the first UK lockdown. Not only did the team find new ways to approach carbon reduction in the construction design and delivery processes, but also new ways of working collaboratively as a group. Online brainstorming and research sessions became the norm, which further contributed to the success of the project for the team – finding new ways of working in more ways than one!

The 86-bedroom Acute Mental Health Unit was designed to blend into the landscape and create an effective healing environment. The construction method balanced building a 23,000m² structure with minimal disruption to on-site residents. Key design considerations included waste elimination, low energy use, carbon reduction, solar gain, and environmental protection. BREEAM EXCELLENCE The SIP Full Structure System enabled a fabric-first approach, meeting energy efficiency and sustainability requirements. Innovaré’s design and engineering expertise addressed technical challenges, ensuring simplicity in fit-out and services provision. Custom designed 6-meter panels were manufactured offsite and delivered just in time, reducing site work, noise, and dust. The BREEAM excellent rated building is naturally ventilated, energy-efficient, and clad in carbon-neutral timber. Red Kite Academy was created to deliver much-needed school places for children with a range of learning difficulties and special educational needs. The benefits of offsite construction were successfully realised when Innovaré teamed up with Architecture Initiative and Ashe Construction to create a new and innovative design to deliver a high quality, airtight, energy efficient building using Innovaré’s SIP System. Regular team meetings between Innovaré, Ashe Construction and Architectural Initiative meant that a robust schedule for delivery was agreed in advance and design for M & E services was incorporated within the manufacture of the panels to avoid onsite clashes. Delivered two weeks ahead of schedule, the development achieved a rapid build programme using advanced timber technology. The enhanced performance benefits achieved using the i-SIP System, will reduce ongoing maintenance and energy consumption costs across the lifecycle of the building.The Red Kite Academy provides an inclusive and welcoming environment for a hundred pupils with additional educational needs. Together with the usual educational provisions, the Academy includes a hydrotherapy pool, a sensory suite and a studio flat to help prepare pupils for independent life. The Academy is designed to be flexible and adaptable, providing the capability to suit pupils with additional physical and educational needs. Early design collaboration between Innovare, Ashe Construction and Architectural Initiative enabled the delivery of an efficiently designed scheme. In order to provide education for the growing number of pupils in Barking and Dagenham – in conjunction with the new Lymington Fields residential development – the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) proposed to extend this site. The development of the site – by Bond Bryan and Bond Bryan Landscape in collaboration with Mid Group – was divided into 2 phases: the first being the creation of 2 new teaching blocks on the existing site ( +/- 4,300sqm) with phase 2 being the creation of a new all- through school (Lymington Fields) on an adjacent site. The Lymington Fields School site complements the adjacent housing scheme and forms part of LBBD’s regeneration plan for the area. This school is designed to accommodate 45 nursery pupils, 630 primary school pupils (3-form entry) and 900 secondary school (6-form entry) pupils. The Robert Clack School campus now forms the largest secondary school in Europe (16 FE). The school site is flanked to the west by a new public square developed by the housing developer, a new carriageway to the north and existing retail buildings lie to the east. To the south are existing 2-storey dwellings whose rear gardens abut the school’s southern boundary. The southeast corner of the site links to the Robert Clack Secondary School (Lower Site) via sports pitches. Project:Rockwood Academy Client: Acivico Contractor: Morgan Sindall Architect: Associated Architects Value: £14m Location: Birmingham GIFA: 2312m² Completion: October 2020It was identified by the Education Department that Rockwood Academy required an additional 400 plus school places to support the growth of the local community, increasing the school’s capacity from 648 to 1050. The work was funded through the Birmingham City Council Capital Education fund and procured through the Constructing West Midlands framework. SOLUTION Morgan Sindall Construction worked in partnership with Innovaré to complete the expansion of the existing Academy. The scope of works for the £14 million programme included the design, manufacture and assembly of a two-storey 2,200 ft2 building. An additional ten classrooms were built together with a new atrium, library, further science laboratories, a drama studio and a new multi-use games facility. OUTCOME The main structural frame used an innovative offsite modular structural insulated panel system (SIPS) to deliver superior performance and quality. The design champions the use of Innovaré’s BBA Approved i-SIP System – which outperforms traditional building methods, accelerates project delivery, reduces waste and improves sustainability. Images by John Kees Photography SIPS panels are one of the most thermally efficient structural solutions, and by opting for this innovative offsite method of construction, the team managed to maintain programme and reduce risk which was hugely important at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Advanced offsite construction techniques enabled the project to be cost effective whilst being highly energy efficient – reducing heating requirements for the lifetime of the school. Challenges were faced due to the pandemic when construction was disrupted early in the year. The team worked quickly to ensure that social distancing measures were applied consistently throughout the supply chain, meaning work could restart safely and meet the agreed completion date

Sustainability: Net Zero Carbon in operation Innovaré System:Psi-FASTConstruction is complete on the innovative eco-building for St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy in Derby, following a fire that destroyed the previous school. This biophilic school is part of a pilot scheme for the Department for Education. Biophilic design increases occupant connectivity to nature, promoting physical and mental health, and the building is net zero carbon in operation. Innovaré Offsite supported the design, engineering, manufacture, and installation of the sustainable superstructure. The timber constructed school uses Innovaré’s Psi-FAST panels, designed for fire safety, thermal, and acoustic insulation, and loadbearing capabilities. Psi-FAST panels have an A1-rated non-combustible board and class 0 surface spread of flame rating, offering 60 minutes of standalone fire resistance. The single-storey school includes a primary school and nursery with pavilions arranged along a central canopy. Each age group has a shared learning space, and the entrance building features a hall and communal areas. See full details... PROJECT SUMMARY Located close to the University’s nature reserve, this brand new £4.4m carbon neutral facility, brings the forest setting to the University’s city campus. It is not only connected with its landscaped and idyllic surroundings, but also provides inspirational and flexible learning spaces that offer developing children digital experiences too. More than doubling the capacity of the University’s previous nursery premises, the new provision provides 100 full day-care places for children aged from 0 to five. It also has the capacity to provide childcare and education for children from five to 12 years outside of term time. The new nursery provision also incorporates a forest school facility that develops links with local schools and provides community participation opportunities. Single storey with Glulam timber frame, sustainable panelised superstructure solution with timber cladding and an external timber canopy covered walkway for social interaction. The building has a high-performance Innovaré Offsite envelope which is highly energy efficient, with the wider build incorporating measures such as Air Source Heat Pumps, Passive Cooling and roof mounted solar PV. The proposed designs and plans for the school were carefully considered, with collaboration between project partners, staff at the school and the Design Review Panel at Thurrock Council. The Innovaré team managed the structural design, manufacture, and installation. Thames Park was constructed utilising a hybrid offsite approach incorporating Innovaré’s i-FAST panelised solution, integrating windows and external brick slips to the ground floor and cladding above. Roof cassettes were by Pasquils and pre-cast concrete floors by Creagh Concrete, with M&E specialist DBS supporting the fit-out solution for the plant room offsite. OUTCOME Taking the majority of the build offsite and using scaffold-less installation improved onsite health and safety. The project was 100% safe with zero hours lost to RIDDORS and accidents. Utilising offsite manufacture also allowed for a higher quality finish, with a robust testing and quality checking system to reduce ongoing maintenance. Basing the design on CIBSE, BS – U-Values as low as 0.21w/m2k were achieved, reducing energy requirements for the lifetime of the school. Insulated wall panels and precast concrete floors also allow enhanced temperature management, reducing heating and cooling costs and associated carbon output. Innovaré’s input assisted in the delivery of ‘Configure Offsite 3.0’ – a mature standardised yet flexible school solution, designed to exceed the stringent requirements of the DfE’s output specification and also reduce construction duration by 30%. The collaborative approach taken during the project culminated in enhanced Pre-Manufactured Value, reduced onsite construction time and minimised environmental impact. The proposed design took advantage of Innovaré’s SIP technology to balance the client’s desire for a dramatic 3-YEAR ENGAGEMENT TO DEVELOP THE RIGHT DESIGN Innovaré were approached by engineers Arup at the early design stage for their offsite expertise, to fulfil the distinctive design brief for a 16,000m2 new build. The Academy was set out as series of distinct spaces under a single roof to house teaching facilities, library, drama and sports centre. Working closely with architects Scott Brownrigg a design solution was developed that combined 4 mono-pitched wings off a central spine, where SIPs would be used to make the required cost savings. The Innovaré SIP wrap system would be used to over clad part of the building’s concrete frame, providing an insulating layer and airtightness line. The design phase also involved the tailoring of the panels to the bespoke design requirements, so as not to compromise on the original vision. Through value engineering and early engagement, Innovaré provided a simplified, energy efficient, cost-effective solution for the project. The use of SIP ensured that the structure was weather-tight in under 18 weeks, ensuring that the project was completed within the required timescales as well as budget without compromising on delivering a striking new facility. The school has already received excellent feedback from the pupils, teachers and parents for the difference it is making to the teaching and learning process.

A feasibility study by Balfour Beatty concluded that the original school would not be able to obtain warranties to give the building a viable future. SOLUTION Architects Atkins Global designed a bright and airy new school, filled with natural light, with wide corridors to help ensure a calm and pleasant environment. Advanced offsite construction technology kept the build schedule on track despite the pandemic. Construction partners recognised the need for early engagement to enable the delivery of an efficient Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) approach. The construction strategy was for Innovaré to be involved right from the outset to bring the team’s offsite expertise to the fore. The building was designed specifically for Innovaré’s i-SIP system and a hybrid approach. To meet the performance and programme goals, an innovative hybrid design was developed integrating Innovaré’s BBA Certified SIP panels, hollow core concrete plank floors, and a lightweight timber cassette roofing system. This offsite hybrid technology has been proven to offer a radically quicker speed of build – reducing environmental impact, preliminary and overall costs. OUTCOME The new school has contemporary classrooms with interactive screens and stylish furniture, a dance studio, an immense sports hall, the main hall features a new sound and lighting system for event and performances – the purpose-built library is the focal point of the school. As Turves Green Girls’ School becomes King Edward VI Northfield School for Girls, the staff and students are determined that the wonderful building will now serve as a catalyst to transform opportunities, build aspiration, and further develop academic success

Designed by Nicolas Hare architects, the building envelope is purposely designed to provide occupants with a healthy and attractive environment. Collaborative design development incorporating a concrete frame and advanced structural timber technology meant an innovative approach to the construction method could be adopted, bringing key advantages of sustainability and performance efficiency. The Innovare Offsite i-FAST Panels were selected for construction because they minimize embodied carbon compared to steel framing systems, achieving the sustainability objectives set by the client Howard Group. Effective collaboration with the architects ensured that the client’s performance specifications were agreed well in advance of the start date.

Delivering a PMV of 70%, Psi-FAST improves efficiencies by taking more construction processes offsite into our quality-controlled manufacturing environment. The factory fitting of vapour control, windows, and cladding enhanced the quality and integrity of important detailing whilst also accelerating the construction programme. Innovaré’s Psi-FAST panels included factory-installed windows, insulation, and brick-slip cladding with a Passive Purple Coating to substantially improve airtightness. The hybrid solution integrates Psi-FAST wall panels with roof cassettes and pre-cast concrete floors and stairs. Scope of works also included offsite manufactured volumetric plant rooms for the project which Innovaré designed and delivered in collaboration with our M+E specialist, DBS. Increasing Pre-Manufactured Value to 70%- a key driver for the DfE, the Innovaré building solution achieves thermal and airtightness levels required for net zero carbon in operation. This project exemplifies the development Innovaré has undertaken to advance the application of the Innovaré offsite manufactured Psi-FAST system. The result is a net zero carbon in operation building with high-performing acoustic attenuation combined with maximising natural light: ultimately providing an optimum learning experience for staff and students.

The school provides the 250 pupils with the facilities and resources to include modern and well-equipped classrooms and suitable outdoor areas for play and learning. The school replaced the old Ysgol Corn Hir which had been previously deemed as “not fit for purpose”. Innovare’s Structurally Insulated Panel System works to a detailed 3D design model in which potential clashes and buildability issues have been resolved. This provides the greatest possible certainty that buildings will be ready for use on schedule and delivered within the agreed budget. The technology is also significantly less prone to delays caused by poor weather or shortages of materials and skilled labour. The Innovaré SIP System accelerates project delivery and delivers ambitious building performance outcomes. The new school is designed specifically around the needs of the children that will be attending, and it will provide an outstanding educational setting. Careful consideration has been given to all aspects of the design process to help promote engagement, well-being, and achievement. Structural insulated panel external walls were used for the teaching wings. Having collaborated on several education projects, Wynne Construction, Innovaré, and Lovelock Mitchell Architects have established an excellent working relationship. This permitted the project team to efficiently identify the most effective way to deploy offsite methods. Airtightness of 5m3/m2/h Extensive use of structural timber reduced embodied carbon levels as well as significant sequestered carbon within the timber structure. Delivering this level of real-world performance alongside time and cost savings is the product of a close partnership.Mr Rhys Roberts, the headteacher has been in post for the past eight years said.: “The children, parents, governors, and staff were “delighted and excited” about their new school. It is not often in this career that you get the opportunity to be at the beginning of a school’s history. To have a say in its future and part of the team helping to plan it for the generations of children that will come here, it is quite a privilege.
