waterproofing system, offering a prompt and trouble free installation for a flat roof requiring refurbishment.

Three flat roofs that were beyond serviceable have had their roof surface and insulation refurbished with a tapered scheme in order to eliminate water pooling which was a consistent problem. A combination of IKO Mach One and IKO Superflex T-O Cap Sheets were installed along with new insulation boards to complete a full tapered scheme to shed persistent standing water.
University Chemistry Lab Roof Meets Carbon Reduction Policy

Walkwood Academy, Redditch
IKO were chosen to survey the Academy roofs and recommend a proposal for renewing the aged and weathered membrane this included many non compliant and fragile roof lights.
Solution. After a thorough roof survey including core sampling a new roofing system was designed to incorporate a tapered Insulation to remove the excess rainwater and also improve the thermal efficiency of the classrooms, A bespoke solution was provided to over sail the trouble-some low level Finlock integral gutters. During the installation both adverse falls & hidden internal outlets were found resulting in the taper Insulation for one roof being completely redesigned.

Welsh School Benefits from a 20 Year Single Point Guarantee Roofing System
With roofs in a poor condition the County Council were looking for a phased approach to their refurbishment programme. The school wanted a solution that delivered a robust, long-lasting system that could be quickly and safely installed, from a manufacturer that could provide comprehensive technical support throughout the project.
IKO assisted Monmouthshire County Council with a detailed survey report, including intrusive core sample analysis. The roofs although weathered were in a condition to receive an overlay with a new IKO Goldseal Hybrid system together with new rooflights and a tapered insulation scheme.
Westminster Cathedral (Carbon Neutral) - IKO Permaphalt
In 2014 discussions took place between IKO and Architect for the property, over the possibility of renewing the mastic asphalt roof coverings with an IKO Permaphalt Polymer Modified Mastic Asphalt System.
During 2015 this process took place with the work being undertaken by Knight Asphalte, one of IKO’s Approved Contractors. During the works some 35 tonne of IKO Permaphalt was installed and due to IKO’s commitment of supplying Carbon Neutral Mastic Asphalt we are able to calculate the impact this has on the population.
Wigman Road, Nottingham
Wigman Road is a major thoroughfare for city traffic. Built originally of concrete on mud flats by Italian prisoners of war in the 1940’s, the road was subsequently black topped.
City engineers have been faced with almost non-stop maintenance ever since, particularly the areas of high stress and areas of relative cracking where the asphalt surfacing passes over the underlying concrete joints.
After months of evaluation, IKO
Permatrack was selected for over 14,000 linear metres of joint repairs, providing a repair capable of accommodating high levels of movement as well as a hard wearing, long lasting surfacing.
Wythenshawe Hospital - IKO Ultra Prevent and IKO Polimar EC/UV
Wythenshawe Hospital is a major acute teaching hospital in South Manchester and is part of the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. As part of a major refurbishment IKO PLC was invited to provide specifications and technical support for the renovation of the 13,000m2 roof.
Following the systematic thermal imaging carried out by IKO certain areas were stripped back and made good so approved contractors could install the high performance waterproofing. IKO recommended its IKO Ultra Prevent overlay system - IKO Ultra Prevent and IKO Polimar EC/UV Liquid Solution.
