The Activair High Temperature Heat Pump uses R290 refrigerant located in the outdoor unit only and does not require interference. It works similarly to a domestic refrigerator, using a refrigerant circuit with four components: an evaporator, compressor, condenser, and expansion valve. The refrigerant evaporates at temperatures as low as minus forty degrees Celsius, extracting heat from ambient air. The refrigerant gas is compressed to raise its temperature and then passes heat via a heat exchanger into the home for hot water use. Maintaining low heating flow temperature is vital for optimum efficiency.
