OVERVIEW
Wrexham University’s new Enterprise, Engineering and Optics Centre features a bold, geometric façade clad in Proteus SC Tray panels finished in metallic gold, reflecting the institution’s forward-looking commitment to innovation, engineering, and cutting-edge research.
Wrexham University’s new Enterprise, Engineering and Optics Centre is a striking addition to the campus, reflecting the institution’s focus on advanced technology and innovation. The building’s standout feature is its dynamic façade, formed entirely from triangular Proteus SC Tray panels finished in a warm PPC Tiger Drylac Gold. This metallic finish brings a distinctive identity to the structure, echoing the engineered aesthetic of aerospace and high-performance materials.
Each of the 3mm aluminium cladding panels was precision-fabricated to fit into a carefully designed geometric grid, where eight triangles combine to create a single square. This pattern repeats across the façade, introducing rhythm and texture while maintaining exact alignment. Smaller bespoke panels were incorporated around the perimeter to ensure the geometry remained intact right to the building’s edge.
