This premium product combines a sleek, modern aesthetic with practical functionality, making it well-suited for a busy public setting. Its durable, low-maintenance design ensures that the space remains both accessible and visually appealing for years to come.

The £3.2 million regeneration project in West Blackhall aims to revitalise the traditional high street by blending modern improvements with historic charm. The primary goal is to create a vibrant and welcoming space that caters to the needs of the local community while enhancing accessibility, ensuring the area is inclusive and easy to navigate for everyone, including those with mobility challenges. By combining a modern design with functional upgrades, the project will breathe new life into the high street.

The Challenge

Provide a high-end product to match the quality of natural stone

Inverclyde Council approached this project with several key goals aimed at revitalising the high street. Their primary objective was to create a more accessible and welcoming environment for both shoppers and visitors, ensuring the area would cater to a diverse range of needs, making it more navigable and inclusive. The council wanted a solution that could replicate the look and feel of natural stone, offering the same sense of quality and sophistication.

Equally important was the need to balance these enhancements with budgetary constraints, ensuring all upgrades and modifications were cost-effective. By carefully evaluating priorities, the council hoped to deliver a high-impact transformation that would stimulate the local economy while remaining within budget.

The Solution

Tobermore Braemar was used to breathe new life into the traditional high street

Having used Tobermore products before, Inverclyde Council was already familiar with their exceptional quality. This prior experience gave the council confidence that Tobermore’s paving solutions would meet the high standards they required for the project.

To ensure they selected the perfect product that would mimic natural stone, Inverclyde Council utilised Tobermore’s innovative Live Design Studio. This interactive experience allowed the council to see and evaluate the product in real time, providing an opportunity to examine the appearance, texture, and quality up close. Live Design Studio made choosing Tobermore Braemar block paving easy as it was the ideal product to meet the council’s vision, combining premium aesthetics with long-lasting performance.

The Braemar block paving was installed in a bound format to ensure enhanced durability and stability for the high street’s busy environment. Four carefully selected colours (Arran Stone, Jura Grey, Alto Silver, and Innis Black) were used to create a striking and dynamic laying pattern. This combination not only added depth and character to the space but also created a contemporary and sophisticated aesthetic that perfectly complemented the high street’s design aspirations.

The addition of finishing touches, such as Fusion Kerb for clean and modern edging, and Tobermore Tactile paving slabs to support accessibility, has resulted in a perfectly designed high street space. These details not only elevate the overall aesthetic but also ensure the area is inclusive and welcoming for all visitors.
