Waitrose’s Distribution Centre at Bracknell delivers to more than 60 stores, handling up to 150,000 cases of chilled products. The new warehouse was conceived to a ‘green’ design; generating 20% of renewable energy on site with waste heat and office cooling recycled from the refrigeration process, efficient lighting and low carbon emissions. Hoardings during construction were made from recycled plastic and materials from the demolition were also recycled. In keeping with the concept of sourcing natural materials, a Roma-3 mild steel grating fence in a galvanized finish was specified for the boundary demarcation.
