OVERVIEW
A proposal was put together by Ashfield District Council to improve Sutton Cemetery, building an extension to the rear of the existing cemetery on Jubilee Road. The new 4100sq metre site has a gated access leading to a parking area for those visiting graves. Alpha Rail’s Albany was specified by the client Ashfield District Council, by their Senior Regeneration Officer Paul Crawford to go around the perimeter of the site along with an ornate double leaf gate to match the railings, creating a secure but sophisticated looking boundary for visitors of the cemetery.
The tender contract was subsequently awarded to Parkin Contractors Ltd, who appointed Alpha Rail to manufacture and supply approximately 120 linear metres of 1.8m high Albany railings and a 3.8m wide ornamental gate to match. All materials were hot dipped galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 as standard followed by a polyester powder coated finish in RAL 9005 jet black.
