OVERVIEW
The Vacuum Glazing Network was proud to partner with the Diocese of Salford to deliver a ground breaking energy efficiency upgrade at St Winifred’s School in
Stockport.
As part of the Diocese’s decarbonisation programme, we installed
our revolutionary PassivGlas™ vacuum glazing into a wing of the school, replacing
outdated and inefficient windows.
There was a need for change as the existing windows at St Winifred’s School were no longer fit for purpose.
The aging fixtures provided poor insulation, causing significant temperature fluctuations in
the classrooms - uncomfortably hot in the summer and excessively cold in the
winter.
Additionally, external noise pollution led to disruption the of learning and concentration,
affecting both students and teachers.
PassivGlas™ vacuum glazing was chosen as it offered exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation, addressing these critical issues by:
● Enhancing energy efficiency: Retaining heat in winter, reducing the school’s
heating costs.
● Preventing summer overheating: Keeping classrooms cool and
comfortable. Removing the need for an air conditioning solution.
● Minimising external noise: Creating a quieter and more focused learning
environment.
● Contributing to sustainability: Aligning with the Diocese of Salford’s
commitment to reducing carbon footprints in educational institutions.
