Ryder Street, St James’s – Timber-Clad Amazon Eco Store

Located in the heart of St James’s, Ryder Street is surrounded by some of London’s most architecturally significant buildings. Any external infrastructure must achieve the highest standard of visual integration while offering functional, secure storage for residents and staff. The Bike Storage Company was commissioned to design and deliver a bespoke Amazon Eco Cycle Store that could sit comfortably within this sensitive, high-value urban context.

To achieve this, BSC developed a timber-clad, fully enclosed cycle store with a sedum-ready roof structure, offering security, weather protection, and a premium architectural finish. The design prioritised discreet integration into the surrounding courtyard, maintaining sightlines and respecting the heritage character of the area. The unit’s steel frame was hot-dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461:2009 for maximum protection, ensuring longevity in an urban environment where reliability and anti-corrosion performance are essential.

Internally, the store includes galvanised Sheffield stands to provide secure, easy-to-use parking for everyday cyclists. External details such as powder-coated steelwork, concealed fixings, and high-quality timber cladding reinforce the visual refinement required for a Westminster planning area.

The project demonstrates BSC’s strength in delivering bespoke, design-led cycle storage solutions that serve modern active travel needs without compromising architectural integrity. The result is a practical yet elegant installation that reflects the expectations of a premium central London development.
