How do you protect a cherished, solid timber bar without compromising its classic charm?

For the historic Court Royal Hotel in Bournemouth, the answer lay in a tailored solution using our discrete yet robust K25 Punched Aluminium Roller Shutters.

The hotel's beautiful solid timber bar needed effective security after hours. They needed something that would:

1. Keep the bar secure without breaking the bank
2. Blend in naturally with the traditional wood and classic look

But it was a little tricky, because the bar is L-shaped with a 45-degree angled corner. And part of it is a stained glass window. So everything had to fit perfectly and look natural.

The Solution: K25 Punched Aluminium Roller Shutters

Our K25 shutters were the perfect fit. The punched (perforated) design looks lighter and less bulky than solid shutters, so they complement the timber instead of overpowering it. But don't be fooled by their open appearance, because he openings are small enough that a person can't reach through, and these punched aluminium shutters offer excellent protection for their weight, all at a great price.

Installation and key features

This job needed careful planning. We used two separate shutter curtains along the main bar, connected by a removable centre post for easy access.

And we had to handle that 45-degree corner:

• We made a special removable corner post to connect the angled shutter smoothly to the main section
• The shutter boxes were positioned carefully to keep everything looking clean and working smoothly, despite the angles
• The beautiful stained-glass window on the second angled section stayed completely visible
