OVERVIEW
Napiershall Street, Glasgow Residential Apartments
Kelvin Properties wanted to enhance the rooftop of their latest development, The Old Schoolhouse on Napiershall Street, Glasgow. The 1890s school building sits alongside a contemporary residential block, so it was important that the materials chosen complemented both the heritage architecture and the modern surroundings.
Originally, metal planters were specified by landscape architects OOBE, but WoodBlocX was selected instead thanks to its flexibility, lightweight system and ease of installation on a rooftop site. The modular nature of WoodBlocX also meant the design could be adapted to suit the project requirements quickly and cost effectively.
Rooftop raised planters and seating
The aim was to create a welcoming outdoor space where residents could relax, socialise, dine and exercise. Bespoke raised planters and integrated seating were built to make the most of the available space, providing a practical and attractive solution.
Elevating rooftop gardens with WoodBlocX
WoodBlocX is ideal for rooftop projects - its lightweight, pressure-treated timber blocks can be carried easily to site and assembled quickly without the need for power tools or heavy machinery. Our system offers the design flexibility to follow existing footprints and adapt to unique layouts, making it a cost-effective alternative to metal planters. For additional safety, fire-treated options are also available.
