OVERVIEW
Client: Minster in Sheppey Primary School – Nursery, Lower, and Upper Sites
Product: Covora Lite Low Surface Temperature (LST) Radiators
Challenges: Competitive specification, phased delivery, design changes during development
Solution: Covora Lite LSTs matched to heat output requirements, with revised quotations throughout
Outcome: Efficient, phased delivery across three school buildings; customer satisfaction achieved
Background
Minster in Sheppey Primary School, located in Kent, is a large education facility made up of three separate buildings - nursery, lower school, and upper school. As part of a site-wide heating upgrade, a contractor was appointed to manage the mechanical installation across all phases.
Although the M&E consultant had originally specified a competitor product, the customer approached Contour to provide a like-for-like alternative. Contour had previously quoted for similar works but had not been successful on earlier tenders. This time, however, the Covora Lite LST range was selected to deliver the required outputs while meeting the school’s performance and budget expectations.
The Challenges
The project came with several logistical and specification-related challenges that needed to be addressed throughout the programme:
1. Competing Specification
A competitor product had been specified by the consultant, requiring Contour to carefully match the required outputs and demonstrate suitability through an alternative proposal.
2. Phased Development
The works were carried out in three distinct phases; first the lower school, then the upper school, followed by the nursery. Radiators needed to be supplied in alignment with the site programme.
3. Design Revisions
As the project progressed, the M&E consultant issued multiple design changes, meaning several revisions to radiator quantities, sizing, and specification were required.
Solution Implemented
Contour worked collaboratively with the contractor to supply a reliable and compliant solution:
All units were carefully specified to match required heat outputs and suit the different building layouts. The Covora Lite range was selected for its cost-effectiveness, safety features, and suitability for education environments. As a supply-only project, Contour ensured the contractor received clear documentation and responsive support throughout the procurement and delivery process.
Outcome
Despite multiple design changes and a phased delivery schedule, the project was completed on time and to the client’s satisfaction. The Covora Lite units provided a dependable and safe heating solution for each part of the school, supporting comfort, efficiency, and long-term performance.
Contour’s flexibility in managing revisions, along with their responsive service and reliable product supply, helped contribute to a smooth and successful installation for all three buildings on site.
