OVERVIEW
Darlington College, established in 1897 as Darlington Technical College, serves the local community, offering education and training to students and businesses from a central campus since its rebranding in 2006.
Background
As well as delivering a high standard of education, the Darlington Campus provides modern, state-of-the-art
facilities for the students, including a £2 million renovated construction centre, media design centre, motor vehicle body workshop, university centre in partnership with Teesside University, and much more.
Challenge
The college wanted to create a welcoming atmosphere within the reception for staff, students, and visitors without risking unauthorised access to facilities. This meant they required an unobtrusive security solution. Due to it being a busy space, it was key to manage the throughput and prevent tailgating therefore a security solution needed to be placed that could withstand the amount of people entering and exit while stopping.
Solution
Meesons, recommended installing the EasyGate HG Speed Gates with 1200mm high glass wings to retain that open
feeling, making it harder to climb over the Speed Gates.
To manage the flow of users to either side of the reception. These consisted of six standard width lanes and 1 wide access lane. Post mounted glass infill barriers were also supplied around the Speed Gates to create a secure line to prevent unauthorised access.
