OVERVIEW
The main objective of the acoustic design was to meet the acoustic requirements whilst reducing the embodied carbon of the acoustic design. This was achieved by using GenieMat® RST, which is made from 94% recycled car tyres diverted from landfill, and the carbon negative GenieBoard. As a result, a saving of 16.6kg CO2/m2 was achieved by using recycled and recyclable products compared to traditional construction types. This equates to a total of 73 tonnes of C02e saved across the project. As this build-up is dry laid, it is fully demountable and recyclable at the end of its life.
The post completion testing demonstrated that the build-up exceeded the acoustic requirements in average by 4dB in airborne (providing a DnTw of 60dB) and 2dB in impact (providing a L'nTw of 54dB). Test report: R-10255-GH-RRM
