OVERVIEW
Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned Grade II-listed power station located on the south bank of the River Thames. It is revered among London’s most iconic landmarks.
One of the most significant brick buildings ever made, the station consolidated its status as a cultural icon worldwide when featured on the cover artwork of Pink Floyd’s platinum-selling album Animals.
Following its 1975 closure, the site fell into near ruin. However, it has undergone significant renovation over the past decade and is home to numerous offices, residencies, bars, restaurants, shops, and more.
Re-opened in early 2022, the site is a prime example of urban rejuvenation, and our team was chosen to enable visitors, residents, and workers alike the opportunity to cycle to this exciting venue.
Our solution
To deliver on this substantial project, our team was required to design, manufacture and install various bespoke solutions that could meet the detailed architectural and client requirements of this landmark third phase at Battersea Power Station.
A complex arrangement of Semi-Vertical Racks, Gas Assisted Two Tier Racks, Solo Vertical and Vertical Bike Racks were identified as the ideal choices for the space, enabling us to fully optimise the areas available and create more than 1,500 secure bike spaces.
Over 300 metres of High-Security Mesh Partitioning were installed throughout the hubs to secure and divide the numerous individual stores. We were also asked to design, manufacture, and install over 70 Tenant Cycle Stores, providing residents with their own fully private, secure storage cages.
Numerous Maintenance Stations were installed throughout the location to enable general bike upkeep and help users stay safe on the roads. Our maintenance stations integrate a heavy-duty bicycle pump for complete peace of mind at the end of each journey.
It was a privilege to play a role in the revitalisation of one of London’s most recognisable landmarks, something we are incredibly proud to have our name against. We have already been invited to perform similar works in two subsequent phases.
