APL Case Study - Slimwall™ Face-Fix - Tobacco Dock

Background:

·        The existing cladding had been identified as being combustible ACM

·        APL had previously designed and supplied a bespoke StrongBak™ structural-framing solution to the project due to its unique historical structural design

·        APL were engaged to supply and design additional areas of StrongBak™ along with a complete A1-rated face-fixed flat-panel façade to replace non-compliant cladding (not supplied by APL)

·        APL Armacoil™PLUS-HT material was selected due to its exceptional performance in a marine environment

·        APL’s fabrication capability meant that all panels were factory-drilled leading to significantly quicker installation time on site

Systems:

·        4,000m² of APL Slimwall™-FF face-fixed flat panel in 2mm aluminium with an Armacoil™PLUS-HT coating in RAL 1003

·        APL Tritherm™ sub-framing for StrongBak™ area

·        APL aluminium AluE™ Tritherm™ helping hand brackets and extrusions to support panel system onto StrongBak™

·        All flashings, fixings and accessories
