As there may be noisy events on one side of the wall, while quieter ones take place on the other, the acoustic rating was important. However, budget was also a key consideration for the charity.

The Hastings & Bexhill Mencap Society is a self-funding charity, registered with the charity

commission and affiliated to Royal Mencap. The society provides a day service (Open Door), residential home (Westwood), arts project (Active Arts), and social clubs for adults with learning disabilities.
