THE PROJECT

Located in the heart of Cardiff, The Copperworks is an upscale Build To Rent development featuring luxurious studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. Spanning 23 storeys, this stylish building offers 307 private rental homes, complemented by a rooftop lounge and terrace, as well as a commercial unit on the ground floor.

The Safety Letterbox Company partnered with Winvic and Grainger on The Copperworks project to elevate both the residential and commercial spaces within this development. Our focus was on providing high-quality, durable, and visually appealing mail solutions that seamlessly blend functional design with architectural elegance.

THE CHALLENGE

The client tasked us with designing and supplying fire-rated mailboxes that not only met stringent safety standards but also adhered to the architect’s sophisticated design vision. The project required mailboxes with copper sails running vertically up each bank, adding an element of elegance and modernity to the structure. These mailboxes were to be wall-recessed in the main lobby, a critical area that also serves as a primary escape route.

The primary challenge was to create a mailbox solution that seamlessly integrated with the building’s aesthetics while ensuring maximum safety for the residents. OUR SOLUTION

To address the unique requirements of The Copperworks project, we selected our 

Fire Rated 2 mailboxes

. These mailboxes are designed to meet the highest safety standards, featuring a 2-hour fire rating that complies with BS EN 1363-1:2019 industry regulations. This fire rating ensures that the mailboxes significantly enhance the safety of the building, particularly in critical escape routes like the main lobby.

Our Fire Rated 2 mailboxes were chosen not only for their superior safety features but also for their ability to align with the architectural elegance envisioned by the client and the architects. The copper sails running vertically up each bank of mailboxes presented a creative challenge, which we embraced.
