OVERVIEW
Artemis Barn was a 250-year-old derelict agricultural barn before being masterfully restored into a beautiful family home.
Chiles Evans + Care Architects were approached by their clients to convert the remaining stone barn into an innovative family home. Due to the barn's location within the Peak District National Park along with its age and legacy, planning officers provided the necessary guidance to ensure each element of the refurbishment protected this historic property. Having specified The Rooflight Co's products on a previous project, architect Howard of Chiles Evans + Care Architects chose to specify the Conservation Rooflight, as it met both the aesthetic and performance needs of this heritage project, whilst also being approved by the planning officers.
Sitting alongside exposed steel, rough-sawn timber and stone walls, the linked Conservation Rooflights provide a bridge between the original course textures and that of the newly plastered white walls, filling the open triple-height living areas with bright, natural light.
“The Conservation Rooflight is a great looking product that performs well in the context of the barn. We have enjoyed being able to specify this rooflight.”

In 2017, Artemis Barn won a RIBA East Midlands Award and a RIBA East Midlands Conservation Award.
