Stratford Station

OVERVIEW

Meeting budgetary, functional, and aesthetic expectations in stunning style, helping regenerate this urban space.

Stratford Station needed a contemporary block paving solution to complement its newly designed entrance and enhance the overall aesthetic of the area.

Tobermore’s Fusion block paving proved to be the ideal choice, offering a sleek and durable surface that would align perfectly with the station’s modern look.

Situated on Gibbons Road, the new £9.5 million entrance to Stratford Station is a key feature in the area’s ongoing regeneration. This modern entrance offers direct access to one of the UK’s busiest stations, enhancing convenience for businesses, visitors, and the wider community. Recent upgrades also include new benches and improvements to the existing car park used by TFL staff. As part of a broader vision, the local council aims to establish Stratford as London’s first-ever green zone, encouraging active travel by adding seating and bike racks throughout the station.

The Challenge

Infusing a sleek, modern edge into the station’s new exterior

Given Stratford Station’s modern facade, selecting paving that would seamlessly complement the contemporary design and elevate the aesthetic was essential. Equally important, was finding a product that aligned with the project’s budget aspirations. The chosen paving needed to offer a balance of style, durability, and cost-effectiveness to meet both the visual and financial objectives of the scheme, ensuring a solution that was both impressive and practical for the long term.

The Solution

Tobermore product infuses the area with modernism.

To elevate the station’s sleek, modern exterior, Tobermore proposed use of its Fusion block paving, a contemporary choice renowned for its stylish design and durability. Fusion block paving offers a selection of sophisticated colours, and the chosen colours Silver and Graphite harmonised beautifully with the station building, adding a refined yet vibrant look to the surrounding area. Each Fusion block is crafted with a high-quality granite finish, ensuring that the paving not only boosts the visual appeal of the station but also stands up to the demands of high foot traffic at one of the countries busiest transport hubs.

The strategic addition of this product aligns with the broader regeneration efforts in the area, supporting the council’s vision of making Stratford an accessible, inviting, and aesthetically cohesive urban space.
