Company Sustainability Statement
IBRAN was founded in 2014 with a single purpose: to divert waste plastic from landfill and incineration by transforming it into durable construction products. Every IBRAN product is manufactured from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, permanently capturing waste material in long-lasting infrastructure.
Material Sourcing
All feedstock is sourced from UK waste streams, processed by IBRAN's supply partners and manufactured into finished products within the UK. This closed-loop approach keeps material cycling locally, reducing transport emissions and supporting domestic recycling infrastructure.
Primary material: Post-consumer recycled polypropylene (rPP), approximately 98% by weight.
Manufacturing
IBRAN operates through a UK manufacturing partnership model. Production takes place at partner facilities in the East Midlands using fully electric injection moulding equipment. All manufacturing energy is supplied on REGO-backed renewable electricity tariffs, meaning production-phase carbon emissions are effectively zero on a market-based accounting approach.
Embodied Carbon
Pre-EPD lifecycle assessment data (EN 15804 methodology, Ecoinvent 3.9 / DEFRA 2024 GHG factors):
- A1–A4 (cradle to site): 0.90 kgCO₂e/m²
- Full lifecycle including Module D recycling credit: −0.85 kgCO₂e/m² (net negative)
This compares to approximately 8.5 kgCO₂e/m² for permeable block paving and 12.4 kgCO₂e/m² for tarmac surfacing. Formal EPD certification is in progress.
SuDS Compliance
IBRAN gravel stabilisation grids are 100% permeable, allowing rainwater to infiltrate directly to the sub-base and ground below. Products support compliance with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) requirements under national planning guidance and contribute to flood risk reduction at source.
End of Life
Products are fully recyclable through standard domestic plastic recycling streams (PP recycling code 5). Material can re-enter the recycling chain at end of service life, supporting ongoing circularity.
