Published Limit state capacities are suitable to determine structural adequacy and serviceability in accordance with:

To address thermal expansion and contraction, the recommended maximum sheet length is 24 m. Where lengths exceed 24 m, step joints or concealed decks are recommended.

Manufacturer guidance

Refers to maximum allowable spans based on supports of 1.0 mm BMT. These vary depending on profile thickness and span type. Maximum spans are as follows:

  • 0.42 mm BMT roofing: 1050 – 2400 mm.
  • 0.42 mm BMT walling: 1400 – 3500 mm.
  • 0.48 mm BMT roofing: 1450 – 3000 mm.
  • 0.48 mm BMT walling: 1650 – 3550 mm.

When insulation thickness up to 50 mm are installed, screws may need to be increased in number depending on insulation thickness and density.


For insulation thicknesses greater than 50 mm, Fielders® recommends the use of a thermal spacer.
