For six patrol boats built for the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Getzner provided Sylomer® elastic bearings to reduce noise and vibration inside the wheelhouse. By fully decoupling the wheelhouse from vibration sources such as engines and pumps, the vessels achieved a measured interior noise level of just 79.2 dB, meeting the strict requirement of staying below 80 dB. The Sylomer® solution offers long‑term durability, requires no maintenance, and is resistant to salt water, oils, and dirt—ensuring reliable acoustic comfort and protection of sensitive onboard equipment throughout the vessels’ service life.

In the new BSS research building at ETH Zurich’s Basel campus, Getzner provided tailored Isotop® vibration‑isolating solutions to protect highly sensitive laboratory equipment—such as electron microscopes—from disruptive vibrations. With numerous vibration‑generating machines located near clean rooms and three large roof‑mounted recoolers producing significant oscillations, elastic bedding was crucial. Getzner’s Isotop® products ensured that vibrations from building services systems were prevented from reaching research areas, supporting precise scientific work and contributing to the building’s high sustainability and performance standards.

This case study highlights how Kronoterm achieves exceptionally quiet heat pump operation by using Getzner’s Isotop® Compact and Isotop® MSN‑DAMP elastic bearings to decouple the compressor. This vibration‑isolating solution prevents structure‑borne noise from transferring into the heat pump housing, contributing to Kronoterm’s ADAPT MAX model reaching an impressively low sound power level of just 49 dB. The collaboration ensures long‑term noise reduction, higher comfort for users, and reliable performance in modern, sustainable heating systems.

As part of integrating the East London Line into the London Overground network, the existing route was extended and modernized to serve as a major transport corridor. Because the line passes through tunnels, viaducts, bridges, and tight curves—and runs close to many buildings—the project required a track system that could deliver reliable vibration protection across varying structural conditions.Getzner supplied a combination of Low Vibration Track (LVT) systems with Sylodyn® elastic insertion pads and lightweight mass‑spring systems using Sylomer® mats. This adaptable approach enabled uniform track elasticity, effective vibration decoupling, and reduced noise transmission, while simplifying construction and ensuring long‑term performance along the entire route.

For Mexico’s 1,500‑km Tren Maya railway, Getzner supplied Sylomer® FR elastic strips to create floating floors in 219 train carriages, providing reliable vibration and noise reduction. This solution enhances passenger comfort—especially in sleeping and dining cars—while also protecting vehicle components, lowering wear, and reducing life‑cycle costs. The lightweight, low‑height design allows fast installation and meets strict fire safety standards, helping ensure a quieter, more sustainable travel experience for the millions expected to use the line each year.

As part of the UK’s InterCity Express Programme, Hitachi equipped its new Class 800 high‑speed trains with elastic floating floors made from Sylomer® FR. This fire‑retardant material provides effective vibration and noise isolation, reducing interior noise levels and enhancing passenger comfort. The Sylomer® FR floor bearings protect interior components, lower wear on carriage structures, and ensure long‑term reliability with minimal deflection over the service life of the trains.

At UNTIL Marylebone, London’s first Wellcare facility, Getzner installed g‑fit Shock Absorb Advanced to meet strict acoustic and vibration‑control requirements. Located in a basement next to sensitive medical and office spaces, the gym needed to minimise noise and vibrations from intense training activities and heavy point loads. The g‑fit solution provides effective shock absorption, reduces airborne and structure‑borne noise, and ensures a quiet, comfortable environment for users while protecting neighbouring areas from disturbance.

The project showcases how Getzner’s elastic pump and pipe bearings were used to significantly reduce vibration and noise in the new indoor swimming pool complex (Seebad Bregenz) in Bregenz. The facility’s central energy plant, located directly beneath the sauna area, uses thermal energy from Lake Constance, drawing water from a depth of 40 m through a 600 m pipeline to supply a low‑temperature district heating and cooling network.Because six continuously operating pumps generate strong vibrations, Getzner implemented Isotop® DSD‑BL2 pump bearings and Sylomer®/Sylodyn® pipe supports to prevent structure‑borne noise. This ensured quiet operation for guests above and enabled efficient, sustainable heating and cooling for buildings connected to the network.The project marks a key step toward decarbonizing Bregenz’s energy supply.
