Adcrest Ltd. is an electrical contracting company that was working on a new refurbishment project for Stables Market in Camden, London. Stables Market was in need of a number of new awnings to provide weather protection to the entrances of their shops. They had existing awnings in place that had been there for a number of years and were no longer fit for purpose and therefore needed replacing.

The BBC Television Centre contacted Able Canopies requesting a site survey to be conducted as they were in need of a covered smoking area for their staff. We recently completed a noteworthy project, supplying custom-designed sliding louvre doors for a delighted customer in Goring-On-Thames. Nestled alongside the picturesque River Thames in South Oxfordshire, Goring is known for its charming village and serene surroundings.The star of this project is a stunning detached house that now boasts the distinctive touch of Sunshield's sliding louvre doors. The Louvre Post Office is an iconic building in the 1st Arrondissement, in the heart of Paris. The purpose of the project is really to keep postal activities in the heart of Paris. It aims also to enhance the spatial qualities of this building with a mixed-use program. Effisus Ecofacade P-Fix and Effisus Pre-Fab TrueSeal were integrated at this project. Effisus Ecofacade P-Fix is a solution for waterproofing facade connections. Effisus Pre-Fab TrueSeal is a pre-fabricated bespoke sealing solution.

The bulk of the project, spread over seven large blocks, used DucoWall Basic to provide plant screening. One element, where higher level glazing needs privacy screening from the walkways below, DucoWall Classic W 50Z is installed inverted so that the areas gain maximum light without sacrificing privacy. Another challenge was to incorporate louvre doors into the plant screening areas without interrupting the aesthetic appearance. Here again a standard DucoDoor solution provided exactly what was required. The DucoDoor can use the full range of DucoWall blades to provide a beautiful and uniform result.

A DeltaWing-90V louvred fence was specified for the Holy Trinity Primary School in Dalston, Hackney. The panels were manufactured with louvres on a vertical axis to create a semi-transparent screen. This increased the sense of space within the playground area while providing an appropriate level of security and privacy for young pupils.The fencing was supplied in various heights to suit the openings within a brick wall and the varied palette included timber infill panels to the gates.

Deptford Fire Station is a Grade II listed building in Lewisham having been originally constructed in 1903. Bolton Gate supplied the folding appliance bay doors in the 1960’s and although still functional after fifty years, they were in need of replacement due to frequent usage. Since the building is listed, every effort was required to replace the doors on a like for like basis and Bolton Gate were engaged to supply new folding shutters to the same design which were installed and handed over recently. This is the latest in a list of several fire station contracts undertaken in London.

A refurbishment recently carried out at this holiday park in Great Yarmouth included the division of the large entertainment area to achieve a flexible, multi-use space. This features a sports bar one side with the other side hosting various activities such as exercise classes, kids’ activities, shows etc. Bolton Gate’s Sonaroll acoustic steel roller shutters were specified to divide the two spaces whilst providing reduced sound transmission when closed and when open, allowing the whole space to be used as a show-bar. The 100mm flat-faced laths allowed graphics to be applied depicting a boatyard scene

The project, designed by Uno-A, welcomes 110 flats in three different types of buildings linked by several planted areas; and various common areas, such as a coworking space and an equipped gym.The façades use GRC (Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete) panels and coloured glass panels to provide architectural identification.Bandalux worked closely with both the architect and the real estate Iempa Immobiliare to provide shading solutions depending on the location and type of building. Z-Box, B-Box Systems and Cofre style awning are place externally, being three different options to management sunlight.Polyscreen® 403 and Trend Light BO fabrics configured these systems according to the lighting needs: visual contact or perfect occultation. On the other hand, Premium Plus roller blinds s are installed inside, providing optimal solar control and comfort.

A new project in Woking showcases the many benefits of Maple’s new Pluto louvred screening system.Designed to hide unsightly HVAC machinery on the roof of a new four-storey independent living development, the system is lighter and easier to install than traditional systems.   It’s perfect for the rooftop location. Seen from the ground, it’s a sleek bank of aluminium louvres – but the modular system also means that installation is safer, with time spent working at height kept to a minimum.  Maple’s Pluto system fixes easily to the building sub-frame using galvanised steel brackets, while an advanced sub-structure of posts, mullions and rails in high grade aluminium will provide hidden support for the 100mm louvre blades.  Despite a practical function of hiding equipment, pipes and ducting, the screening will not detract from the clean lines of the building, which are complemented by a bank of curved louvres (also supplied and installed by Maple) on the west elevation of the building.  The project is a collaboration between Maple, Willmott Dixon, HNW Architects and Woking Borough Council. When complete, the four-storey development will provide a mix of 48 one- and two-bed flats, which will provide independent (but supported) living.

As part of the refurbishment of this 1970’s building, Bolton Gate were specified to provide a hybrid grille / shutter to the loading bay. In addition to providing vehicular entry / egress with the requisite ventilation for such an application, matching side panels were required with integral hinged doors to allow personnel access and provide emergency exits. The grille / shutter was provided with a special bottom rail and operates via a keypad outside, loop detectors inside and photocells / safety edge to meet H&S requirements. The whole assembly was powder coated brown in keeping with the surrounding structure.

Hart Door Systems has worked with a number of UK water companies to improve site security and efficiency. In particular the need to secure remote and often unstaffed but vitally important sites. Water sites have particular needs which require reliable and secure doors and the engineering expertise that Hart offer.The challenge This Yorkshire Water had 3 existing un-secure horizontal doors. These manual operation doors had fallen into disrepair and presented a security risk. Automatic doors were required to provide efficiency and security. The solution The Hart solution was to install its roller shutters, fitted in a customised way to suit the environment and to ensure security, ease of installation and minimum disruption. One of the things Hart has significant experience in is fitting doors that add security features but without the need for additional structural works. Disruption was further minimised by working in collaboration with the main construction contractor, scheduling the work to fit in with not only the day to day operations, but other work happening concurrently.Because of Hart’s experience on sites such, existing vital operations were worked around – which continued during the removal of the old doors and installation of the new. The success Several more SR rated doors are planned at the same site, so that the company can replicate the success and the improved security that has been provided.Hart has gained invaluable experience working with various water companies installing high specification SR rated security shutters. These doors meet an established set of standards to prevent unauthorised access and have been tested and shown to minimise the threat of certain intruder attacks.For those sites that need constant access by people and / or traffic, the Speedor brand of doors can provide additional high speed operation. When a significant UK security site needed a complete upgrade to its perimeter fencing, Zaun stepped in with a cost-effective and highly secure solution.The task aheadDue to the compassionate nature of the site, guarding against the physical threat and providing a visual screen was important. Therefore, the perimeter had to meet the high standards of the Centre for Protection of National Infrastructure [CPNI] and be capable of housing Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems [PIDS] – a sensor mounted on the fence.As there was no current security fencing system that includes a visual block approved by CPNI, it was thought that two fences were required. One of these fences would provide high-security protection and the other a screen from prying eyes.Installing an additional conventional louvre screen would have been expensive and taken up too much room, so Zaun’s development team came up with a solution to address both of these issues.The Patent Pending system uses horizontal louvres that cleverly link into the mesh; this keeps cost and size down as the mesh itself becomes part of the louvre system. The furthermore, them grabs the wires as it is installed to ensure a tight fit, thus preventing rattles that might interfere with the acoustic PIDS system. This clever design saves costs and space. In addition, the product can be configured to provide varying degrees of screening.What Was SuppliedCPNI approved HiSec Super 6 high-security fencing system is designed for sensitive, high-profile sites. The vertical wires are 6mm in diameter with 76.2mm x 12.7mm spacings, enhancing a standard 358 system.Louvre privacy screens are easily attached to the robust fencing eliminating the need for two sets of fencing. Manufactured from 2mm thick steel sheets, which are folded to form the louvre. The galvanised sheets cleverly grab onto the mesh as they are installed, improving privacy and making the 358 mesh more rigid.This whole private and secure fencing system can also have PIDS easily attached. These mounted detection systems give early warning to any attempts of intrusion, whether penetration or climbing. It offers discreet monitoring and early warning and can be fitted on existing fencing units.

Bolton Gate’s Superior folding shutters have been specified and used on over 100 Fire Stations in Hong Kong & Macau, the latest being the station built to service the infrastructure associated with the new Hong Kong–Zhuhai-Macau bridge, the longest sea-bridge in the world. The doors are designed to meet an onerous specification including typhoon loads up to 3kPa and fast operating speeds (approximately 700mm per second). They are designed and manufactured in the UK and shipped to Hong Kong where they are installed by Deacon & Co., Bolton Gate’s local agent.

A landmark in the regeneration of Spitalfields,The Steward Building is situated within the historically and architecturally interesting Artillery Passage Conservation Area.The site required the highest quality stainless steel louvre as a street front cladding, providing ventilation and visual screening, on two elevations of a prime office development.The design, which was developed by Lang+Fulton, featured recessed supports for the panels and incorporated a sliding door with concealed gate hardware to achieve a seamless aesthetic.The louvred panels were made from DeltaBox/SS-90 a pressure locked stainless steel product.

Italia-Corten louvred screening makes a striking statement at a technology park and science hub, which is being developed with an ambitious commitment to renewables. The louvre panel system has been used to contrast with stainless steel mesh, etched with an artwork of forest trees. The client specified a strong hi-tech identity with a visible natural imprint, using materials capable of expressing sustainability and modernity. The Italia-Corten, which has a high recycled content, 100% recyclability, requires no finishing treatments and is maintenance free, fulfilled the brief for a material with a low environmental impact and a strong aesthetic.

Ashton Old Baths is a Grade II listed building which Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council has transformed into a business hub and data centre; an idea for heritage sites which could be transferred to many other ‘at risk’ buildings.The primary concern for the project was to create a sympathetic dialogue between the historic and the modern.Lang+Fulton were approached by the architect to provide an appropriate solution for a compound to surround and screen the unsightly sub-station, data centre generators, and cooling plant that were required to service the new complex. Their Corten louvre, made from weathering steel was selected to match the tonal qualities of the original red brick façade of the Victorian bath house and preserve the sensitive context of the site. The Italia-Corten panels sit between an expressed steel framework, which was hot-dip galvanized before polyester powder coating in a dark grey to reference the regeneration of the site to the area’s industrial past. The continuous structure creates 80% visual screening and the robust steel louvres provide excellent security.The compound was supplied with double-leaf and tri-fold gates to provide the required access.

A range of CS louvre solutions were selected for the Met Office HQ in Exeter to ensure efficient airflow and protection from wind-driven rain ingress. The RSH-5700 louvre delivering Class A rain defence up to 3.0m/s was installed in the sloping façade of the main building. This model is available with an optional glazing frame detail for easy integration into curtain walling. For the IT building, where airflow delivery was a key specification factor, the A-3105C ventilation louvre offering continuous blade appearance and hidden mullions was selected. This product offers Class 1 airflow performance and low pressure drop.

North Kent Police HQ is a four-storey landmark building of 11,500 m2. In addition to the perimeter fencing, Lang+Fulton supplied the steel louvred cladding panels and support steelwork for the generator housing. The panels were made from Italia-100 which is an extremely robust louvred material, providing 100% visual screening and a high level of security. Italia-100 was considered to perfectly complement the overall architectural design as well as providing the required functionality at a sensitive site.

Lang+Fulton were asked to supply louvred screening to provide shelter and a visual barrier for the café and outdoor pool areas at the Portavadie Marina Resort. A 2.5m high screen of Italia-100 panels was installed to provide 100% visual screening. The louvres have a free area of 29%, which helps to reduce wind loading, but, in order to cope with potential storm force conditions, the RHS posts were specially designed in accordance with BS EN 1991-1-4. A store area for bins and a secure compound for service plant fored an additional part of the contract. The steel louvres were polyester powder coated in a muted grey (RAL 7015) to a marine grade standard of finish to blend with the surroundings and withstand the harsh coastal climate.

In short, an environment with plenty of greenery and water.Here is a prairie style villa, designed by DenOlderVleugels Architects & Associates, equipped with unique louvers. By Sunshield.On the second floor, at the front as well at the side wall, a triangular slat system have been installed.Both sun shading systems have an area of almost 10 m2 and are controlled separately with a remote control.The residents have chosen the 150-E louver. A slat with a modern, sleek design and a width of 150 mm. When the slats are fully open, the visibility between the slats is 140 mm. The residents can then fully enjoy the beautiful panorama.The aluminum parts are powder coated in RAL 7021, black-grey. The plastic components are finished in black.

Energy Design Solutions fabricated, supplied and fitted this project. The DucoGrille Classic 50HP has been developed especially for intensive ventilation. The uniquely shaped ‘High Performance’ louvre blade with a low resistance factor ensures excellent airflow. All types are manufactured from extruded aluminium sections. Insect mesh is fitted as standard.

The Sash Window Workshop were contacted to provide a quote to upgrade the timber windows for a customer's property in Hertfordshire.The sales surveyor met with the customer and provided them with a quotation for a mixture of complete new windows and installing new sashes into the existing frames.The customer proceeded in two separate orders, with work initially being carried out in the kitchen and dining room.The windows were made in Accoya wood, which comes with a 50 year anti-rot guarantee, and were double glazed and painted white.After the initial work was complete, the customer was very happy and decided to place an order for the remaining windows and two timber doors to be replaced.

The Sash Window Workshop to replace several traditional timber windows and a back door in a property in Buckinghamshire.The enquiry was assigned to our sales surveyor who arranged a visit to assess the windows and door, answered any questions and provided them with a quotation for the work.A couple of meetings were held with the customer to discuss and review the details of the quotation and an order was placed for a timber back door and 21 replacement casement windows, comprising of a mixture of single, double and bay windows.The door and windows were manufactured in Accoya, which comes with a 50 year anti-rot guarantee alongside The Sash Window Workshop’s 20 year joinery guarantee.Internally the windows and door were painted in a standard white, with a bespoke green paint applied externally.The installation was carried out by The Sash Window Workshop over 2 weeks, with our site manager visiting the property to check that the installation was progressing smoothly.After the work was completed, the couple commented that they were very happy with their new windows and door.

The village of Papekop is located in the west of the province of Utrecht, surrounded on three sides by the province of South Holland.Here, in collaboration with Arco Architecten Bna, a stylish barn house is fitted with two louver systems. By Sunshield.The entire facade on the southwest is made of glass, and has a surface area of 34 m2. The ground floor is equipped with a rectangular slat system. On the second floor, the louver system begins as a rectangle, but ends at the top of the ridge triangular.Each system is operated by a motor with remote control, so independently of each other.The residents have opted for the 96-E louver. A blade with a modern, sleek design and a width of 96 mm. When the slats are fully open, the view between the louvers is 90 mm. The residents can then fully enjoy the rural panorama from their residence.The aluminum components are powder coated in RAL 9004, signal black. The plastic parts are black.

The new Sports Centre at Meadowbank replaces the stadium which was used as the main venue for the Commonwealth Games in both 1970 and 1986. The modern state-of-the-art facility will provide a wide range of sporting and fitness activities for the local community and clubs, as well as a training centre for elite athletes.Lang+Fulton have supplied the perimeter fencing along the North and West boundaries. A 2400mm high Italia-100 louvred fence was chosen to provide visual screening to one of the 3G artificial football pitches and the outdoor running track which it surrounds.Italia-100 was also used to make a single and double gate connecting to each side of a turnstile entrance to the west of of the main building, with another double-leaf gate to the east elevation.The Operations Maintenance Manager at Meadowbank has personally observed that the fence has excellent anti-climb properties and is therefore providing a high level of security.The fence, posts and gates were all hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated in Grey RAL7016.

The architectural team at Henley College, a sixth form college in Oxfordshire, specified EB24 steel windows for the refurbishment of one of its two sites, ‘Rotherfield’. The Victorian Gothic style building had original white steel windows which after 150 years of use were no longer fit for purpose. After researching the market, EB24 was chosen as the right product to replace the existing windows due to its elegant appearance, ability to be made into beautiful patterns to match the existing windows, great security and energy performance.
