When the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB) moved into their new HQ they set out to design a space that would embody their core values of creating a circular economy. This meant designing an innovative and inviting space, while keeping sustainability at front of mind. Interior specialists, Action Workspace, were brought in to manage the design, specification and installation for the fit-out. With the project brief focusing heavily on the use of recycled or recyclable material, they worked closely with LWARB to ensure total transparency when it came to making sustainable material choices.

Long-lasting quality was key for this fast paced, pedestrian heavy environment.BLÜCHER facilitated the design of an L shaped channel in grade 304 stainless steel, complete with a mesh grating. This bespoke channel allows ease of access to all the brewing tanks within the area, without comprising on flow rate or heat resistance.The installation of the custom L shaped channel has met the unique requirements of the customer. With its ability to handle high flow rates, withstand high temperatures, fit seamlessly into the brewing setup and endure pedestrian traffic, the brewery is now fully prepared to withstand day-to-day brewing operations.

An attractive and functional hard landscaping method was required for the entrance area and car parking spaces at Aberavon Leisure & Fitness Centre in Port Talbot. The aged aesthetics of Tobermore’s Tegula and permeable capabilities of Hydropave Tegula Duo provided the ideal solution.

Many of the GRP Riser Floors we install are fitted during the initial build. Using a framework made from GRP profiles, capped with panels of GRP Grating, we fill usually simple shapes as a building goes up, ensuring people and equipment can’t fall down the holes required for services installation.In an older building, the chances are the services are already in place, which means we need to cut around any pipes, cables and ducting to ensure a neat fit with no gaps.Gainsborough House in Richmond was one such installation. The riser gaps were actually quite small so, while there was no risk of a person falling through, dropped tools could, presenting – at worst – a potential hazard to people and equipment below and – at best – an inconvenience as tools need to be retrieved or replaced. We were sub-contracted by Westgreen Construction to bring the spaces around the risers up to the current safety standards and help prevent future accidents.On some floors the gaps were almost full of services trunking and, as an added challenge, electrical cable trays coming forward presented an uneven surface to work on. We built frames between each tray, creating a raised base to fit the grating to. The mesh was then carefully cut to accommodate the various services in place.In other parts of the building the client needed the grating to be 50mm away from already-installed duct work to allow for lagging and requested a kick plate rather than the normal flush fit. This required a modified frame to give the site team something to fix the plate to.GRP is an incredibly flexible material to work with. It’s much lighter than steel equivalents making it relatively easy to manoeuvre into position. It’s also easier to cut and non-sparking so doesn’t require a hot works permit. This allows us to make adjustments onsite, achieving a high level of precision in a fraction of the time, keeping quality up and costs down.No matter what type or age of a building, our expert teams will find a GRP riser solution to ensure site safety. This could range from anything from hot and cold potable water to the more funky special waters (Demineralised, deionised) and various gas services found in the laboratory; gases such as Argon, Helium, Nitrogen etc which is what would you expect in laboratory fume cupboards and reagent shelving.The colouring is governed by the DIN EN 13792 which covers laboratory taps, this standard is a worldwide initiative so whether you’re in Switzerland, Hong Kong or elsewhere it doesn’t matter the service from the laboratory tap will always reference the same service!

The result of the first project of this type is a house with an organic, soft design - the furnishings minimalistic, high-quality and modern. The house consists of triple-shelled walls that are filled with insulating mass. With the help of a giant 3D printer, the concrete mass was applied layer by layer. And within only a few months, a single-family house with 160 m² of living space was created.Nothing was to be missing from the house with its furnishings; the aim was to emphasise the high-quality and special style of the building. The concrete layers were to remain visible inside and out - reduced, clean and yet expressive in its style. This claim runs consistently through all rooms of the house. F. Ball products have been used to install vinyl and rubber flooring, as part of the refurbishment of the Wellington College fitness centre, in Berkshire. Flooring contractors were called to install luxury vinyl tiles and rubber flooring. After removing the existing floorcovering, contractors built up the raised platform with timber and plywood and applied Stopgap 1200 Pro smoothing underlayment over the raised platform and the screed subfloor. Styccobond F49 Hybrid PS temperature tolerant vinyl adhesive was then used to adhere the floorcoverings. The adhesive enabled contractors to successfully install luxury vinyl sheet, wood effect planks, plus the rubber flooring.

The new Ardley EfW Plant, including a 12m basement built over an Artesian Well, presented a host of construction challenges. Due to the extreme water pressure created by the Artesian Well, as well as ammonium salts in the ground, Fosroc worked closely with Tata Projects specifying a solution using Proofex Engage to provide a watertight, chemically resistant barrier, with Supercast SW20 in the construction joints to reinforce the floor to wall joint. Fosroc provided a ‘total solution’ package to ensure Tata Projects could feel confident with the proposed specification, from basement waterproofing, to grouting crane bases, flooring and sealants.

The crown line for the Herringbone E931 has been set out very well, however the floor has not been protected and the equipment has been left on the new floor.The actual floor will easily get damaged and the client will probably end up with a damaged floor and probably expensive repairs because of the lack of care.What should happen is that the floor should be covered at all times, and the site kept clean, with adhesive and other equipment kept off the new floor, that has been fitted

The FA wanted only the best for its highest-profile ‘social pitch’ at St George’s Park, its new centre of excellence in Staffordshire, opened in October 2012 by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – FA President Prince William wife, Kate.The fence at Pitch No 2, the David Beckham Pitch, needed to take sponsorship and branding and keep rattle and noise to a minimum. The FA also wanted to fit in with the landscaping of the National Forest in which the centre sits.The SolutionThe system had to be in keeping with the environment – even down to surfacing the pitch surrounding the same golden colour as the car parks. Recticel Insulation’s innovative insulation board - Eurowall +, which has a tongue and groove joints on all four sides to ensure an airtight fit and improved thermal performance, was selected for a desirable new housing scheme built beside one of England’s eminent waterways.The Magenta Court development in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead is a multi-award nominated social housing project on behalf of Dacorum Borough Council. The £6.5m scheme, which stands alongside the famous Grand Union Canal, comprises 29 one-and-two bedroom flats within four blocks. The buildings’ design was inspired by the surrounding wharf architecture present in a nearby listed cottage, papermill and Apsley Lock.Being delivered by main contractor Jarvis Contracting, working with architects RG+P, key to the programme’s success was achieving an energy-efficient building fabric. This led to the specification of Eurowall®+, a high-performance PIR solution from Recticel.This flagship product helps to achieve a 0.18 U-value with a 90mm-thick panel in a 100mm cavity. Washroom's Forza SGL lockers and Legato benches combine to create a colourful new changing area for an office cycle centre.
