The building has been designed to meet the extremely exacting demands of a BREEAM Excellent’, Grade A’ compliance. SIDERISE was instrumental in helping to achieve the required acoustic performance both horizontally and vertically though investigation and treatment of the potential weak points. This included a significant upgrade to the curtain wall mullions.

The kitchens in this luxury boutique development of apartments in St James’s by Originate Architects, include bulthaup b3 furniture with Gaggenau appliances. Cabinets in black brown stained oak and anthracite aluminium combine well with the natural oak flooring to give a sophisticated but textural feel to the scheme. St Pancras Station, London

Ten years in the making, the international station at St Pancras is truly awe-inspiring. The vast, glazed central section of the station’s roof, transforms the original giant train shed, allowing a breathtaking swathe of light to pour in to the station. The use of glass throughout this regeneration project both internally and on the external façade has been vital in restoring the station to its former glory and truly bringing it into the 21st century. DOWSIL 993 was specified for the bonding and sealing application in two areas of this impressive and exceptional refurbishment.

One St Peters Square

VitrA bathroom products have been chosen for the prestigious new office space at One St. Peter’s Square. It has been developed by the Elisabeth House General Partner Limited; a joint venture between GMPVF and Argent. It is situated in the heart of Manchester’s central business district and has benefitted from the city council’s £185 million redevelopment of the area. Working with the architect Glen Howells, contractor Carillion and sub-contractor Caledonian Pods, VitrA’s products have been specified for washrooms on all fourteen floors.

St Andrew’s Hospice was undergoing well-deserved £9 million refurbishment, and they wanted their new inpatient unit to feel like a home-from-home for all patients and their families. Our Integralift hidden hoist was specified by the architect because it could provide accessibility without being obvious in the room. The hospice had made it clear that all equipment needed to match the overall décor of the hospice and fit in with their signature colour scheme. We ended up supplying over 160 items that all matched with their specifications. See the incredible photos on our website!

Johnstone's Trade Paints - a brand of PPG Industries

Johnstone’s Trade’s Acrylic Eggshell has been used to stunning effect in the redecoration of the ornate paintwork inside St Theresa’s Church in Dublin. Johnstone’s Acrylic Eggshell was recommended by Blackwood due to its durability, and the fact that surfaces could be easily washed to remove stains including soot from candles. The quick-drying properties of the product, combined with the fact that the team worked solely at night and used battery operated cherry pickers rather than scaffolding, meant disruption to the church’s busy schedule of day-to-day activities was kept to an absolute minimum.

GREEN ROOF SOLUTION FOR BARREL ROOF AT THE WORLD FAMOUS ST ANDREWS LINKS GOLF CLUB The £2million development has been designed as a state of the art facility providing storage and office facilities. The stunning building features a green barrel roof to help the building settle into the natural environment around it. This was an important aspect to meet planning considerations and also achieve the sustainability credentials required. A special mix of sedum was specified to retain the local blend of vegetation and tolerate the exposed location of the St Andrews Gold Club at the edge of the North Sea.

Stepping up to this challenging remit from SKS, International flooring specialist Gerflor would be supplying two of their most iconic and stunning flooring products. Gerflor’s LVT Creation and smart-looking GTI would be the designer’s choice to grace this newly re-furbished office.

Colour experts from Johnstone’s Trade have joined forces with leading artists to create a visually stunning environment for patients at a hospital in Bradford. Bradford-based building and shopfitting contractor, PEC Building and Shopfitting, used Johnstone’s Acrylic Eggshell in off white for the main wall areas and Acrylic Durable Matt for the striking colours required for the feature walls.The two products were not just specified for their aesthetic qualities, however, as both provide excellent durability and are easy to clean; making them ideal for use in a busy hospital environment.

Taraflex Sport M Comfort from Gerflor was specified and their sports hall would need a total of some 600 sq m of this remarkable product. The existing old 2mm vinyl and lino floor that had been on the sports hall for some twenty years. Gerflor’s Taraflex Sport M Comfort went down over the old floor bringing it up immediately to the new European standards for shock absorption.

A timber frame structure requires the floor to provide racking to prevent the building from twisting. Meaning the floor needs to be secured to the joists below so the floor can stop twisting. There are 2 ways of installing Lewis Deck in timber frame structures. Firstly is to fix the Lewis Deck down and lose acoustic performance or the second way is to fix a timber deck on top of the timber joists. Lewis is then laid loose on top of the timber with the resilient acoustic strips in between keeping all of the benefits Lewis Deck but slightly thicker.

St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Whitehaven

The new canopy we recently installed at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Whitehaven has provided their nursery children with an additional 32 square metres of covered outdoor learning and playing space. Powder coated in RAL 5010 Matt Blue, the aluminium frame has a roof glazed with our Multi-Link-Panels NF fitted with 25mm opal multiwall polycarbonate glazing. The NF indicates that these panels pass the recommended drop test, ACR[M]001:2014, achieving a Non-Fragile designation. The polycarbonate glazing incorporates a special coating that prevents the passage of UV in sunlight, so it will help to give protection to those underneath.

The centrepiece building, St Elphin’s House, started life as a private residence, becoming an exclusive spa in the 19th century, and latterly, a well-known girls’ boarding school, St Elphin’s Girls School. This Victorian schoolhouse has been restored stone by stone. Surrounding the Victorian grandeur of St Elphin's House, and built to echo the appeal of a traditional Derbyshire hamlet, are attractively designed retirement properties including apartments, cottages and mews cottages.

As part of the fenestration package this included the Safevent® window and a project specific, bespoke high security perimeter curtain walling solution for the project.

St Mark Church Dais Staging

CPS worked with the vicar and churchwarden at St Mark in the Salisbury to provide a new church dais. Seven Alu Rapid platforms and eight custom staging platforms were manufactured and installed. The custom platforms bridged the chancel steps and fit around the church pillars. There were also two bespoke Alu Rapid ramps and timber steps installed. The staging platforms were covered in Heckmondwike Supacord carpet which fitted around the electrical socket boxes.

SAP administration building in St. Ingbert

The expansion of the headquarters of the global software company SAP in St. Ingbert near Saarbrücken was a sophisticated project. Selecting just any property outside the city was not an option. It was necessary for the property to have a central location. In previous times, a factory owner had already realised how charming the property was when he had his villa built there and an English park set up. Today, the villa is a listed historic building. The old stock of trees has been maintained from the park.

St Margarets Head Railway Tunnel

The now disused St Margaret’s Head Tunnel was a structure originally formed as part of the Dunfermline to North Queensferry railway line, providing a link to the ferry service until the opening of the Forth Bridge in 1890 and remaining in limited use for freight until 1954. The vaulted roof and brick lined tunnel is located 15 metres below the A900 trunk road and the B981, adjacent to the northern approach to the Forth Road Bridge. Cordek were asked to supply a structural fill solution, encapsulated within a protective membrane to fill the entire cavity of the tunnel.

St John’s Church, Merthyr Tydfil

After 20 years of being empty & unused, one of Wales’ most historic churches has been brought back into use as residential accommodation. The Grade II listed St John’s Church has been converted into 20 unique apartments. NHD05 and NHD17 have been specified and installed within the church. NHD17 with Dolphin Grey inserts have been used on all the main communal stair wells and feature a yellow insert on the top and bottom steps to help the visually impaired distinguish when a staircase ends and another begins.

Lakhta Center, St Petersburg, Russia

The Lakhta Center is a large mixed-use non-residential development featuring the first supertall skyscraper in St. Petersburg. The 87 floor, 462 metre superstructure consists of a cylindrical reinforced concrete core. Due to exceptional reinforcement volumes, Ancon reinforcing bar couplers and headed anchors were used extensively in the construction of the foundation raft to avoid unnecessary overlapping of bars and minimise congestion. Nearly 80,000 CXL32 couplers were used for the splicing of 32mm horizontal reinforcing bars, and over 45,000 CXL32HA and 6,000 MBT ETHA32 headed anchors were used at the extremities of the reinforcement at the edges of the raft.

Space was at a premium in this compact office building, so the self-contained superloos offered the ideal solution without compromising on design. Each individual toilet cubicle includes a WC plus vanity and hand-drying facilities. Washroom's Concerto duct panels are available in wide range of different materials and finishes and here the duct panels were faced with a pale Limed Oak veneer to match the bespoke shelving above each vanity. Its Forza solid grade laminate lockers with secure digital access code locks were manufactured with a Z-style configuration with metallic effect doors and large stylistic black printed numbers.

Structural Drainage - Reservoir Base Uplift, Deckdrain, Rushmore STW, Telford, UK

Part of Severn Trent Waters e5 Major Projects Programme, Rushmore STW is a strategic centre for sludge digestion, de-watering and cake storage. Due to expected growth in the local population the PSTs would need refurbishment. A high water table below ground meant stability is constantly changing meaning tanks suffer uplift pressures when empty. Encouraged by the e5 programme a novel solution was proposed. Deckdrain 700S/NW8 was proposed as an uplift pressure reliever and under slab drainage. Deckdrain has a filtration layer and is virtually impermeable. Deckdrain structure exceeds the drainage capacity of 500mm stone giving significant cost savings.

St Pancras Station Grand Champagne Bar

Situated on the 1st floor concourse of St Pancras Station London is a venue that has refreshed and invigorated many of the international travellers passing through the terminal. The St Pancras Champagne Bar boasts of a world famous clientele and houses one of the busiest kitchens in the capital. Ryebrook Resins were appointed to replace the existing floorboards and then provide a seamless, hygienic floor finish that met the requirements for functionality as well as health and safety. Ryeflor RT water based polyurethane rapid curing system was installed in a rolling programme to allow the kitchen to continue trading.

St George Hospital, Kogarah, Sydney, NSW

St George Hospital in Kogarah, Sydney, is currently undergoing a $307 million redevelopment. The centrepiece of this redevelopment is a new eight-level Acute Services Building, which will include an intensive care department, eight operating theatres, 128 additional inpatient beds and a rooftop helipad.

SIGnature Torch On System - St John's School

SIG Design & Technology used their know how and professional expertise to secure the government’s Condition Improvement Funding (CIF) for roof repairs to a 1740m2 project at St John’s School, Bishop Auckland. The school had previously been successful in accessing a lottery grant to refurbish their internal sports facilities but a CIF bid in 2015/16 had been turned down.

St Paul's Cathedral, London

The Cathedral is one of the most breathtaking, famous sites in London. Designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren, this Cathedral dates back to the 17th Century. At 365 feet, it was the tallest building from 1710 to 1967. However, more dynamic, daring and modernist architecture has seen buildings in recent years eclipse this incredible monument in height. We worked with architects Caroe Architecture who specified ALAVO for use in Superloos as well as double and four-user ALAVO washstations.

The Fixfast living roof retention system has been used as part of a stunning Sky Garden green roof installation in Hertfordshire, which recently featured on Grand Designs. 175m of 100mm EdgeGuard aluminium retention angles surround the perimeter of the living roof, preserving its unique appearance, and maintaining the integrity of the gravel fire breaks.

CBRE wanted to replace their existing automatic doors at the front and rear of their newly refurbished building with stylish doors which are safe, reliable and ensured effortless pedestrian flow. Two record K41 stainless steel four-leaf revolving doors constructed from glass to provide a modern, minimalistic look were installed. A stainless steel swing door complete with a record DFA 127 operator has also been installed next to revolving door at the main entrance to provide a wider opening for disabled access and deliveries of large, bulky items to the premises.

St Johns School Maidstone

During the initial meeting with the architect it was found not copper green but copper brown was chosen to match the existing. The project would also have 2 extensions/phases at different stages. During 1st phase, the decision to carry on with the second phase was made. All existing contractors were nominated to carry out the 2nd phase. During all works on phases 1 and 2, contact was kept with the architect and was informed that decision was made to re-roof the existing buildings. All works were carried out successfully.

Over 700 Bushed Nordic Royal Copper fins were supplied on the project. Chosen because it changes the appearance of the building as the sun moves across the sky, each copper fin had to be rotated 1 degree further than the previous fin in order to create the casting shadow look. This posed an exciting challenge for Sotech’s technical and manufacturing team as they not only had to create a bespoke jig to manufacture the fins, but care had to be taken to ensure the direction of the ‘grain’ was maintained across the final look.

NAG undertook the design, supply & installation of the ground floor in this terraced house in Victoria south west London, using our RC 254-100 Floor Light construction with clear 200mm diameter lenses we created a floor that not only looks amazing but with the added electric underfloor heating cast into the concrete this internal floor is the first of its kind in the UK.
