The skylight will provide you with a clean appearance in the external roof scope, the toughened outer glass pane has a ceramic edge coating giving you an immaculate and stylish finish. The range comes complete a 160mm high vertical insulated PVC kerb/ upstand. The slim aluminium frame has a internal thermal break allowing it to be energy efficient whilst also reducing the risk of internal condensation. The skylight comes complete with fixing screws which once installed are fully concealed beneath a flush cover creating a sleek and tidy external appearance.

SUNPAL Skylight at the Ringwood Aquanation Centre in Melbourne, Australia

Palram Europe Ltd

Palram worked with the architects on Aquanation from 2012 until its completion in 2015. The specified roofing system, SUNPAL White Opal Diffuser Plus 18 mm, features a double diffuser effect to soften the transmitted natural daylight as well as the inner reflections of electric lighting during dark hours. The multiwall polycarbonate architectural panel system was integrated into the skylights along with 3 types of curved roof deck finishes. Palram provided a unique span-bar rafter system with a custom bracket design to enable this challenging installation.

Modular skylights improving office and warehouse conditions using natural light

The VELUX Modular Skylight system was installed as part of a new combined office and warehousing space for third generation fabric design company, ROMO Fabrics. The use of natural light proved essential to the project and so 348 modules of the VELUX Modular Skylight system were specified and installed across the building. This included a VELUX Ridgelight solution to accentuate the entrances of the atrium and offer a glimpse of the internal space, as well as a VELUX Northlight solution within the office and design studios to provide soft, reflective lighting and a natural feel to the workspace.

When Vitsoe, makers of iconic minimal-modernist furniture, decided to build a new HQ, it was always going to be something special. Central to the design is the saw tooth roof with 240 northlights created using the VELUX Modular Skylight system. The elegant sightlines of the VELUX skylight frame sections complemented Vitsoe's own minimal-modernist design philosophy. The curved suspended ceilings, that features wavy ‘skylights’ meant the Top Cross Rail component had to be made to a radius that met the architectural specification. This, in turn required the expertise of the Rondo Technical Services Team to ensure the wave, ‘skylight’ feature (using KEY-LOCK Concealed Suspended Ceiling components) would actually work. Not only that, the Rondo Team also had to adhere to strict deadlines to ensure the material could be supplied to the project on time.

Two hundred modules of the VELUX Modular Skylight system were installed as part of an innovative lighting and ventilation strategy led by BAM Construction and AHR Architects for the Ministry of Defence’s new UK Hydrographic Office. Modularised and prefabricated, the modular skylights simplified a complex specification for natural daylight, first-class ventilation, and modern aesthetics in a central atrium area at the heart of the new development. This central public transportation hub has a light-filled, vibrant and inviting atmosphere thanks to light columns – a structurally expressive skylight and walkable glass floor combination that brings sunshine into the building. This innovative solution has met the most demanding requirements for a fire-rated glass floor and skylight to date; 2-hour fire rating, blast, and seismic resistance, plus live loading for foot traffic. It involves horizontal fire-rated glass, structural glass, and spacers with air-gaps to avoid replacing glass due to dirt and condensation issues that would develop with foot traffic and the outdoor environment.

Ballyseede Castle located near Tralee, dates back to the 16th century but was transformed in the 1960s into one of Ireland’s most luxurious hotels. As part of a new extension Brett Martin Daylight Systems was called upon to provide an aesthetically pleasing daylight solution for the orangery. Brett Martin supplied a comprehensive Ritchlight skylights package helping to create a light, bright environment for guests and staff, whilst blending beautifully with the character of this stately, listed building. Ritchlight Ultra is a precision-engineered, highly adaptable glazing system, providing specifiers with a versatile way to create architecturally stunning pitched skylights.

In this City Penthouse Apartment designed by Doone Silver Kerr architects, our bulthaup b3 kitchen includes a combination of both alpine white and flint matt lacquer furniture. Worktops are 10mm thick composite stone and the 90mm bartop is Alpine White laminate. The kitchen is open to the living space but tucked neatly below the skylight to the rear of the space. In a high end residential setting like this, the aesthetics of a skylight or roof window when blinds are open are often a high priority, and in this case the shading mechanism was completely concealed within the surrounding frame in a recess box, designed for the TESS™ 660. The result is a space with maximum levels of natural light and complete control over heat and glare, without breaking the clean lines of the design or obstructing the view to the outdoors.

Trumpington Community College was designed and built with strong sustainability in mind and features 245 VELUX Modular Skylights. Sustainability drove every aspect of the college masterplan, including a transport target for 90% of students to arrive by foot, bicycle or public transport. The college wanted to create a level of transparency that would allow students and staff the benefit of light as well as a glimpse of the weather outside, while preventing glare and high contrast ratios.

Compact loft ladder for fire escape – Case Study from Premier Loft Ladders

Building contractor Eversley Building Services Ltd required a roof access ladder for emergency use in the event of a fire. However, the application constraints presented many challenges, in particular the small skylight aperture. As such, a particularly compact loft ladder was needed. Furthermore, because the loft ladder would be used during an emergency, it had to be easy-to-operate and safe for its occupants. East Preston Infants School

Within an educational environment, natural light creates a comfortable space which can have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of students and staff. When the existing bitumen roof at East Preston Infant School came to the end of its service life, naturally the decision was made to replace the existing roof and upgrade the rooflights. Kingspan Light + Air introduced 23 Kingspan Classic Skylight Domes into the building enabling the school to embrace natural light, ventilation and smoke management performance benefits.

The financial comparison website money.co.uk operates from a rather unique location- a beautiful castle in Cirencester. Our team bounced the ideas back and forth with the designers at Interaction for months to ensure, that the client would be offered the best office lighting scheme for the varied and individual requirements of their staff. The whole design scheme was tailored around wellbeing enabling people to work the way they want. The main challenge of the project was to provide good quality lighting for large open space offices with skylights and exposed services.

Glazed Basement Access - Chicago

Ast+Dagdelen Architects approached Surespan to manufacture a glazed walk on basement skylight for use at ground level to bring light and a means of delivery access for materials and goods to their model workshop which is situated beneath their architectural practice. The single leaf 500 (19.5?) x 2400mm (95.5?) electrically operated and thermally broken access hatch featured TripleLite 34mm double glazing with a 1.4kN concentrated pedestrian load. The hatch was finished in a polyester powder coating to match Valspar Bronze.

Vetrotech Saint-Gobain UK

The Palais Coburg in Vienna was bought by POK Pühringer, a private foundation, with the intention to convert it into a luxury hotel resort. The architect goal was to reveal and use the beauty of the old and well-preserved bricks beneath the entrance hall by building a skylight above it. Vetrotech recommended the use of Lite-Floor, a walkable fire-resistant glass solution, which resists fire for up to 30 minutes. This eye-catcher made of glass, features a special screen printing on its surface, which acts both as a design element and a protective anti-slip layer.

In a challenging logistical project, Palram has shipped 15,000m2 SUNPAL® panels to China. The panels are used as skylights and sidelights designed as flower petals, within a spectacular flower-shaped sports venue in the Olympic-sized main stadium of Hangzhou Sports Park. The stadium designers, NBBJ of the US and the Chinese CCDI who, already cooperated with Palram on the Huizhou stadium in 2009. The panels, being 13.5 - 18.5m long, required a special logistical solution, these were then shipped to China in the under deck area of the cargo vessel.

This beautiful period semi-detached terrace house in South London had been lived in for many years by the same owners. Over the years a few changes had been introduced but the whole house needed an ‘update’. The rear extension was rebuilt to complement the original building, adding large doors to the garden and skylights to bring in plenty of daylight. The result is a large family kitchen/dinning/living area with heaps of space and flexibility. The architects, Martins Camisuli, chose Istoria Bespoke Porto Oak Rustic to run throughout the ground floor renovation.

How to Replace Rooflight Dome?

1. Measure your existing kerb; 2. Confirm new dome compatibility with your dome supplier; 3. Choose and purchase your new dome; 4. Remove the existing dome and its frame from the kerb; 5. Secure your new skylight frame to the kerb; 6. Attach the new dome to the frame. For the best result we strongly recommend getting a seasoned roofer, builder or window fitter involved when fitting rooflights. However, if you are to carry out the installation yourself, we are here to guide you along the way.

Belgravia in London features some stunning examples of Georgian architecture. One town house, now a European embassy building, was in need of attention. The embassy featured original skylights, now almost 200 years old. They spilled little natural light into the space below, but the amount of glass magnified the sun’s heat and sent the interior temperatures soaring. A priority for refurbishment to any historic building is that additions and replacements must be sympathetic to the existing architecture. Equally, the objective behind the works was to increase interior comfort levels dramatically, as well as improving natural light.

This bulthaup b3 kitchen in laser edged laminate is the ultimate in minimalist simplicity. Sitting in the rear extension of a traditional townhouse in Colchester, the platinum grey cabinets provide functional storage and appliance housings in a simple U-shape with a laminate worktop overhang for bar seating. The walls, free of high level cabinets accentuate the height of the pitched ceiling with its central skylight bringing natural light into the centre of the space. Kuraray – Trosifol®

This impressive complex has been awarded Project of the Year 2018 in the Building category by Mexican Magazine ‘Obras’ - measures some 180,000m2 (1,900,000ft2). Opened in 2017. Designed by multiple-award-winning architect Teodoro González de León, who sadly died in 2016, the mall makes incredible use of glass to deliver uninterrupted views throughout the complex, thanks to its use of balustrades. But the most striking glazed feature is the egg-shaped skylight in the roof, which is fabricated using multiple shaped panels a slightly domed effect, which lets in as much natural light as possible.

The key to Success Circular Rooflights

Surespan supplied a number of circular dome rooflights with triple layers to The Key, situated in the new Science Central development at Newcastle University. These large 1500 (49”) and 2000 (79”) diameter polycarbonate domes feature triple layers providing a U-value of 1.8 W/m²K. The rooflights were supplied with electric opening actuators to allow ventilation to control the temperature of the fabric structure. Surespan Dome skylights were specified due to their high sustainability and small impact on the environment. The triple layers ensure compliance with energy saving requirements and offer excellent air tightness.

Brett Martin was selected for this project due to meeting for 3 separate specifications. This involved supplying daylighting solutions to an existing building, new building and link corridor. These rooflight play a significant part in ensuring this facility meets its energy targets, whilst enhancing the working environment.
