Lionweld Kennedy designed, supplied, fabricated and installed extensions to existing platforms in order to accommodate longer trains and add a new emergency end of platform staircase . The platforms we worked on was Shepherds Bush, Imperial Wharf, West Brompton and Clapham Stations.We provided GRP deck, below deck screens, mesh litter screens, end of platform steps, fencing and lockable gates as well as associated handrails, plinths, fixtures and fittings.The GRP deck panel’s increased strength allows spans of 4000mm clear span with a 5kn/m² pedestrian loading.This meets all network rail load requirements and is fully approved and in use.Additional strengthening to the deck was required to accommodate the lighting/CCTV columns shown above.We added white and yellow edge lines and safety lines as well as the tactile pavers moulded to the deck.The gritted anti-slip surface is also ideal for this application where safety is paramount.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of London, Sancroft is an office building that stands tall, a commanding structure that spans over 10 floors with 2 levels of basement with a GIA of circa 429,000sqft. When the building’s architects, Buckley Gray Yeoman Ltd, were tasked with providing intensive ventilation in the building, they turned to Price Engineered Solutions for advice. Price Engineered Solutions, renowned for their leadership in supplying heating and ventilation components for key projects across the UK. Like every other institute of learning, the University of Bristol has to provide world class educational facilities, but also find new revenue streams. One such area is the provision of commercial conference space. This of course brings an extra pressure in the quality of the space provided to fee paying delegates.The atmosphere of the large open atrium was dependent on controlling the level of reverberation, without compromising on the architectural finish.Working closely with the Main Contractors Site Team, Architect and Client, we were involved in the specification for the new Atrium Feature Wall, along with all complex detailing, including expansion joints, louvres and display cabinets.Working closely with Vinci Construction, to carry out the Absorb-R GypLine αw Acoustic Plaster treatment to the Atrium Feature Wall at the University.Soundis Absorb-R GypLine αw system was installed to give a very desirable natural white stippled effect, combined with a highly absorbent functional wall spanning the length and height of the building, rising a full 5 floors.

When Ace Kind Ltd was asked to refurbish and retile the shower and changing facilities at the prestigious Shifnal Golf Club, they were expecting a fairly straightforward job. However, Adrian Holt, a director of the Staffordshire-based building contractors, had no idea that the original plasterboard had started to disintegrate behind the tiles. When the contractor highlighted the problem to golf club managers they were given the go-ahead to replace the plasterboard, but rather than repeat the mistakes of the past Ace Kind opted to use Hardie® Backer board.

Franke Sissons supplied a package of water management controls and software to monitor and control the water consumption for thr 38 stainless steel combination sanitation units and associated shower areas. The A3000 Open Water Management System was a key environmental achievement of the project. Each of the new cells WC's and Washbasins are operated by touch free, vandal resistant infra red controls which are directly linked and managed from a central monitoring facility. This enables constant full control of all the washroom facilities including the supply of water.

The brief for the Aquatics Centre in Aberdeen, Scotland – a joint venture between the University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen City Council and sportscotland – was extremely demanding. Sustainability was put at the forefront of the design. The specification included the awardwinning Cabrillant shower cubicles, plus the versatile, durable Marathon range of Conform cubicles and Wet lockers. The locker doors are manufactured from toughened and laminated glass, which allowed the architect to incorporate quality normally associated with high-end health clubs without compromising safety of use within this heavy traffic public facility.

Our field of expertise is flow control in laboratories and industrial locations, and our focus is development and manufacturing of premium laboratory solutions and emergency shower systems. Since the outset in the 1960s, we have stuck to high-end quality. This means that many of our early installations from those years are still working today. We may miss some repair and replacement business on that account, but so be it. We will rather spend our time on developing new concepts and technologies that can drive performance ever further.

The University of Winchester programmed the upgrade of 63 student en-suite showers and toilet facilities for their halls of residence through the 2014 summer vacation period over an eight-week program. The walls were covered with tiling. The grout was difficult to clean and the tiles were showing signs of age which required regular repair. It was decided to renew areas with materials that would give long life, reduce maintenance costs and above all make it much easier for the cleaning teams to accomplish their tasks quickly and effectively.

South Lodge is a 19th Century country house set in 93 acres of Sussex countryside a few miles south of Horsham. It is part of the Exclusive Hotel Group including Pennyhill Park. Sauna360 installed a luxury health suite as part of their stunning new 44,000 sq ft spa development. Sauna360 delivered on time and in budget the design concepts of Sparc Studios. Thermal facilities include: Panoramic Sauna, Salt Steam Room, Herbal Bath, Rasul, heated bench and foot rests, shower and drench.

In 2015 the health suite at the Pendle Wavelengths Leisure Centre was destroyed by fire leaving just a shell. Helo re-designed the space with the original experiences to comply with the like for like insurance requirements but were also able to make huge improvements in the aesthetics of the rooms and space. We used wide glass fronts to the thermal rooms and showers. This created a spacious feel and expressed the finishes within each room. The open feeling allows bathers to gauge occupancy levels at a glance and therefore feel comfortable in their choice of thermal experience.

Slaithwaite suffered extensive flood damage in 2015 after a blocked debris screen caused Crimble Clough Stream to back up, demolishing the wall at the end of Clough Road, flooding the area and causing extensive damage to local homes and businesses.Slaithwaite is a village within the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, situated in the Colne Valley five miles south west of Huddersfleld.The devastating flood of 2015 in Slaithwaite The 2012 Kirklees Flood Risk Management Strategy identified that around 2,000 properties were at high risk of flooding with a potential £70 million of damage. When we started our conversation with Kirklees Council, they clearly expressed an interest in a local flood warning and monitoring system to proactively respond to future flood risk.Kirklees Local Flood AuthorityKirklees Council in West Yorkshire is the third largest metropolitan council in the region. As the lead local flood authority for the district, Kirklees manages local flood risk from surface water, groundwater and smaller watercourses and ensures cooperation between local risk management authorities. As part of a smart monitoring project for flood risk areas, funded by Chester University, Andel worked with the Kirklees Council flood risk team to design a local flood alert and monitoring solution for Crimble Clough, enabling the Kirklees Council to better manage the risk of flooding in Slaithwaite.The challengeThe project is designed to monitor high water levels at Crimble Clough caused by debris washed down from the upper wooded catchment and blocking the debris screen. The sensor-based system monitors the difference between water levels, before and after the debris screen, automatically sending alerts for pre-set trigger points.No real-time information: in 2015 the Crimble Clough debris screen became blocked by debris washed down from the upper wooded catchment, with no warning system in place to alert the screen contractors.No strategic information: in 2015, there were many flood hotspots that needed attention but with limited council resources. Because there was no remote monitoring system in place, it was difficult to choose where best to deploy support.Extensive damage: In 2015, due to the stream backing up and demolishing the wall, homes and businesses downstream from Clough Road were flooded and severely damaged.Disruption: following the flood, the clear-up and restoration process for the affected area meant residents had to leave their homes and businesses were closed for months. The economic damage from the 2015 flood was significant with many hours of Kirklees Council labour invested into the recovery. Part of the regeneration of Chatham Docks, Chatham Waters comprises of two blocks of 193 PRS apartments linked by a single-storey podium level.Y2206F Steel Bronze 1 and Steel Bronze 2 Y2217F applied to solid and perforated cladding panels, whilst YW387I Ordos Sable adorns both balconies and window frames and screens.

Heathrow Airport is the UK’s largest and busiest airport connecting the UK to over 80 long haul destinations and flying over 80 million passengers worldwide. Project/doors: Hart has over installed over 280 doors across all terminals including high speed smoke screens, fire conveyor shutters, security shutters, internal and external high speed doors, insulated fast action doors, sectional doors and pedestrian doors.The challenge Terminal 5 baggage handling system serves around 32 million passengers per year and handles around 6000 bags per hour.  Hart were asked to design, manufacture and install a specialist and unique automatic smoke screen system capable of handling over 6000 bags per hour, while providing a seal for 30 minutes in the event of fire. The solution Hart were the only company to provide a solution that fully met all the design requirements. Two years after the initial talks with the client, Hart successfully completed the manufacture and installation of all of the high speed smoke/fire screens within the main check in area, comprising 102 check in desks. Hart also installed a mixed package of roller shutter and fire doors in the lower ground service area and fire shutters on the Tube access tunnels leading directly to Terminal 5. The success Hart was chosen for the quality of engineering and the ability to meet the clients demanding specification and operating requirements. Hart continues to work with contractors and OEM’s such as Vanderlande, Mace and Balfour Beatty on site supplying upgrades and new doors when required

The high performance attributes of Johnstone’s Trade’s products have helped to deliver an unbeatable finish for new state-of-the-art police training facilities. Johnstone’s Acrylic Durable Matt was used to provide the hardwearing finish required in the office areas, while Johnstone’s Acrylic Eggshell was applied in the staff shower areas as it is resistant to condensation.The floor of the impressive ballistics training area was painted with Johnstone’s Two Pack Epoxy Water Based Floor Paint. Johnstone’s Two Pack Anti-Graffiti Finish was applied to the concrete interior walls of the custody cells.

As part of a £1.2m development of a new PE block, Selby High required a durable and robust washroom area to withstand both the wet and dry environments of the school toilets and shower facilities. They needed to provide privacy without compromising on the space to provide an adequate number of cubicles. Fusion was selected for its contemporary, slim line fittings, with full height privacy doors, and ultra-strong metal frames that add rigidity to the cubicles. The design flexibility and colour choices meant that they could choose a bold yet sophisticated design that reflected their school colours.

Opened in 2018, NoMad Los Angeles is the newest hotel from the renowned Sydell Group, and the second iteration of the chic NoMad New York. Designed by French architect and designer Jacques Garcia, guest rooms were inspired by the colour palette of the lobby’s original blue and gold Italianate ceiling.European-style bathrooms have Calacatta gold marble, walk-in showers with terrazzo floors and carefully chosen vintage details. State of the art changing rooms supplied with Fully Framed Cubicles, Wet area Lockers and Cubicles. A mix of Helmsman System 2000 lockers and Glass Lockers situated together totally compliment each other with walnut formica and luscious lime coloured glass doors. These were supplied along with matching vanity shelving and GRP bench seating. The colouring of the Glass shower cubicles and glass toilet cubicles was carefully chosen in a clear interlayer and clear panel glass to bring the overall look of the changing rooms together. This project oozes luxury and quality on all fronts.

Invited to work with our friends, Mike and Frank of hot tub specialists, Euphoria Lifestyle, to create a traditional garden sauna chalet for a private client based in Surrey, HELO proposed the popular MIKA model. The site available suited perfectly the MIKA design with deep walls and compact but attractive fascia. The standard model was however a little short on space to meet all the client’s requirements so a special extended model was commissioned with an extra central room to house the shower and cold plunge. The result: a completely self-contained family sauna retreat!

The world is focused on social distancing, safety and health; this latest project brings nature a little closer to help improve on all counts with socially distanced greenery. Leicester City Council’s urban environmental goals called upon the flexibility and experience of a rapid taskforce of installers from Hedera Screens to bring green elements across the City during lockdown and beyond.

Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts (CSVPA) required energy-efficient heating solutions for their student accommodation units. To reduce ongoing energy costs, CSVPA approached Consort Claudgen for an upgrade to their existing heating system. Consort Claudgen recommended Wi-Fi enabled heaters with bespoke screens to meet the heating requirements of CSVPA’s 286 student apartment units.

Design and fit out of a new 5,000 sqft HQ in Reading in just 7 weeks. The project was across two floors and was very much designed with video production in mind with several specific areas that needed to be created including a large screen demo studio, a training centre, a tech support lab as well as a creative working environment to inspire all staff.

Dana Petroleum is an oil and gas company and the project was to refurbish their UK offices in Aberdeen. The multiple floors in this office block required blinds coordinated to specific colour themes. Silent Gliss SG 4910 were specified - 233 blinds installed, some with a screen fabric, some with a blackout option. This was achieved by installing double systems with the blackout blind to the back of the window.

One Crown Place is the latest high rise addition to London’s skyline. Home to 246 luxury apartments, high-quality office space, a boutique hotel and members’ club, it is located between the City of London and Shoreditch. Designed by internationally renowned architects Kohn Pederson Fox (KPF), the development features two prismatic towers of 28 and 33 storeys.For the apartments, interior designers, Bowler James Brindley specified custom designed kitchens by Italian company Arclinea featuring a dark lacquered finish with engineered stone worktops and glass fronted cabinets.The Fire regulations which apply to high-rise living accommodation meant that the open plan kitchens in each apartment would require a fire suppression unit complete with sprinklers to be fitted. These units need to be installed and maintained by a specialist engineer and can also cause damage within a property should they be activated due to a fire.  Therefore, the team of architects, designers and builders were open to the idea of an alternative, unobtrusive design-led fire prevention solution, such as the Firechief Kitchen Stove Guard.

A.J Wells designed, manufactured and installed around 1500 square metres of vitreous enamel artwork cladding at the New Griffith House building and boundary wall at Chapel Street, London, as part of a London Underground Upgrade Package.Renowned textile artist Jacqui Poncelet provided the design which was screen printed onto each panel measuring 1.8 x 1.2 metres.

Helmsman had the luxury to manufacture, deliver and install around 180 Z lockers and several benches to commuter washrooms and changing rooms. The client requested wet area Z type lockers, which we provided in heavy-duty aluminium and stainless steel powder-coated bodies and solid grade laminate Z doors. The client choice of colour for the body was the standard ‘ice’ and, the laminate door was Grey Maple (619) from our Abet Laminati collection. Z locker sizes were bespoke to comply with the space. The sizes are 1800H x 378W x 450D + 1mm rivets and 1800H x 298W x 450D + 2mm rivets and end panels to match the lockers. The majority of the lockers are with standard cam locks, and 44 of the Z lockers are with a keyless operation of the Ojmar OCS Pro locks for security and sleek design. These locks have a digital keypad with an integrated handle. In these uncertain times, these locks are hygienic and easy to upkeep. Bespoke bench seating with shoe tray underneath, manufactured from hardwood slats, complement the lockers. The client specifically requested to have these made from hardwood which matches the laminate locker colour.

Working through our Midlands contracting office, Planet provided smoke sealed extended height PURE20XL glazing to floors 2 to 7 of the building’s internal atrium. 6.7m high Schueco Jansen Viss screens were placed on ground level, while PURE20XL was also utilised along with rebated 1.5 leaf IsoPro doors (Rw 36 dB).Extended 3.3m LOFT100 screens (Rw 47 dB) with back-painted glass above transom level were placed in the 300-capacity auditorium with double IsoPro doors. Finally, banded LOFT20 partitions and matching IsoTec acoustic doors (Rw 38 dB) and double glazed LOFT54 (Rw 45 dB) with IsoPro doors were installed for the client’s meeting rooms and phone booths respectively.The Unity Place development is a great example of a people-first workplace design that hopes to be a catalyst for the regular return to the office for many of Santander’s staff. The building is set to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating for sustainable performance, aided by Planet’s EPD documentation for our LOFT and IsoPro solutions.

IssueSheffield Olympic Legacy Park Stadium was created after a collaboration of key institutions decided to deliver an Olympic legacy through the four themes of sport, community, environment and economy. The park has an ethos to achieve physical and mental health and wellbeing by providing world-class facilities for community sports, from grassroots up to elite levels.ApproachWith the need to provide inspirational interiors for aspiring Olympians, Alex Parojcic, Architect at Whittam Cox knew that a high-end design, complemented by technical performance and ease of maintenance was required for the new changing areas, showers and physiotherapy suite. “Ceramic tiles had originally been specified for the showers and changing rooms, but we switched to Altro Tegulis when we realised the installation would be quicker, give a fantastic look and feel to the areas,and provide the cleanliness and hygiene standards required for such busy areas.”Joe Richardson of Richardsons Cladding who completed the installation, added “Altro Tegulis was a quick and easy install which assisted with the contractor’s tight programme. P C Henderson has recently joined forces with SDS London to donate automated sliding door hardware for an Annex being built by Sam Robinson who is living with Motor Neurone Disease. The automated sliding doors are just one of many features in the Annex designed to enhance Sam’s independence and quality of life. When the sliding doors open, the bathroom lights are triggered to come on. An automatic toilet, a remote shower system as well as a full body warm air drying system were also included in the annex,providing Sam with a fully automated bathroom experience.

Both the changing rooms and staff areas contain over 100 Prospec supply and installed Marathon wet use laminate lockers. Prospec Marathon lockers are designed specifically to withstand the rigours of a busy leisure centre. The installation also included other products from Prospec’s versatile Marathon range such as Marathon Conform fully framed cubicles, bespoke solid surface vanities, Cabrillant shower cubicles and both wall mounted and double island bench seating. Prospec worked closely with the specifying architects Roberts Limbrick, main contractor Pellikaan Construction, and leisure operator Places for People Leisure.

Torrance Park Golf Club is set in the beautiful moorland of North Lanarkshire. A bespoke design was required for the lockers due to the unique size requirements of a golf course and our Marathon Wet Glass Lockers achieve this. Manufactured with 10mm Toughened Glass doors and a robust aluminium carcass, the lockers cater perfectly for the members golf equipment without compromising quality or finish. Our award winning Cabrillant cubicles continued the use of glass into the changing facilities in the form of showers. These are complimented by our Marathon System D WC cubicles, duct panelling, vanity units and bench seating
