Following a £14m renovation, the newly opened pier now boasts a stylish makeover, maintaining its rich history while bringing its looks and functionality into the 21st century.
A charity project, the lion’s share of money has been raised through the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), with the redevelopment boosting local jobs and visitors to the seaside town.

The Design Museum and Hollandgreen apartment complex is an exciting new mixed use development in West London, located at the southern end of Holland Park on Kensington High Street. The development consists of three residential blocks grouped around the museum, with accommodation comprising 56 one to five bedroom flats, together with larger individual penthouses. This unusual project combines public sector museum use with super prime private residential living.

Geberit’s Sovent fitting, used for the first time on an English building. A revolutionary system, the Geberit Sovent negates the need for two stack drainage, streamlining systems for tall-buildings of this nature.
In addition to Sovent, Geberit Silent-db20, a waste water pipe with built in sound insulation, was installed to ensure peace and quiet for the hotel’s guests, Geberit Mapress press-fit pipe system provides general plumbing and Geberit HDPE; a long-lasting pipe with low environmental impact; delivers above-ground drainage. Plumbing systems were specified and installed by Sharpe Mechanical Services.

National Trust owned, Saltram House is a magnificent stately home in Plymouth. Home to the Parker family for several generations, Saltram comprises an elegant Georgian façade built around a much earlier building.
One of many National Trust premises to get a renewable makeover as part of a general drive to improve the environmental credentials of its buildings, Saltram is now home to a biomass system. Plumbed together using Geberit Mapress Carbon Steel, the new heating consists of 220kW and 95kW boilers fuelled by pellets.

Architecturally the design of the seven bathrooms in the three exclusive rooftop apartments needed to be crisp and contemporary, with the fixtures inspired by 1930’s and 40’s era (the Dorchester was built in 1931) - dashing, exquisite and exclusive.

ASF were already doing extensive works at Sale Town Hall using the ASF Balmoral Panel Post with sight gap, employed as pedestrian guardrail. To the rear of the Town Hall is the Bridgewater Canal which is followed by the Bridgewater Way. An existing wall was being heightened alongside the footpath to make it higher than the mixed use development area directly to the rear of the building. Wishing to ensure a suitable barrier but not completely obscure the view, the client chose the ASF Balmoral Parapet Post and Panel System for the wall top.This allows people to stand on the higher ground and still enjoy the vistas along the canal whilst ensuring the wall itself reaches an overall height to meet the required standards.

ASF produced the full gamut of variants for this project, all using the ASF 5006 mitred top post system to give continuity. 114mm diameter post uprights were used to offer a substantial framework for these barrier and handrail systems. Some areas needed only handrail so a single sided underslung system was provided, with wrap around end profiles offering a pleasing end point to individual sections.On the post and panel sections a 48mm diameter top rail was used in conjunction with stainless steel perforated panels. These meshed perfectly into the step units that swapped seamlessly from post mounted to wall mounted handrail.Curves, corners and steps were included on this project

Gripsure decking has been used in the development of a new sales pavilion at Swanwick Marina in Southampton.The state-of-the-art building, which opened in the summer, provides 14 high-quality units, which are home to some of the biggest names in the boat business, including Ancasta, Fleming Yachts, MiCats, Nautor’s Swan, Nordhavn, Pearl Yachts, Princess Yachts, Sanlorenzo Yachts and Sunseeker International.The sales pavilion, known as The Saltings, uses our MOSO Bamboo X-treme® with Gripsure decking, creating an attractive and slip-resistant space for berth holders.The profile was chosen for its durability and style, which is very much in keeping with the overall look of the marina. The range is also a sustainable alternative to tropical hardwoods and composite products, boasting best in class for its environmental credentials, strength, stability, and longevity, whilst achieving a Euroclass B fire rating without the need for external treatment.The installer was Amiri Construction and the order for the decking was processed through Covers Timber and Builders’ Merchants in Gosport. Covers Sales Representative Lynn Ward said: “It was a huge project and the final result looks amazing. The bamboo decking that was used is absolutely top spec and very hardwearing. It will definitely do the job.”She added: “Gripsure were helpful to the nth degree throughout the project and really supportive. I’ve already told other people how great they are to work with.”The completion of the sales pavilion was a key stage in the £8 million regeneration of Swanwick Marina. FlexEJ partners with its sister-company Safetech to design and fabricate specialist large diameter rubber expansion joints.Typically, particularly in the Gulf States, these are used in water treatment, distribution and desalination plants – and it’s these processes that took contingents from our sales and management teams to the UAE recently to see our product installed and operating.Desalination and water distribution in the UAE and surrounding countries are vital, integral components helping to supporting these oil-rich economies, thriving as they do in a desert region.The teams flew into Dubai to meet with our local representatives Parvez Mohiuddin and Mansoor Pullat and find out a little more about how the potable water supply operates in this thirsty city. Plants all over this region are in a continual process of refurbishment; the team were able to see how rubber expansion joints of various sizes had been replaced with high quality Safetech joints during a recent plant upgrade.We have an ongoing and growing commitment to the Gulf region and various projects underway there. Welding Thin Material & Autogenous Welding

FlexEJ routinely welds very thin materials in the range 0.3 to 2mm thick. The materials are typically stainless steels, high Nickel alloys (625, 800, 825), Titanium and Duplex.Not only do we weld these thin materials we weld them to (relatively) thick dissimilar materials, a process which requires very high skill and ability.
